GIZ Kenya and the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) are proud to announce a new MOU Partnership to advance collaboration between #Kenya and #Germany in open-source technologies, digital innovation and IT talent development. 🤝 The partnership will strengthen links between Kenyan and German digital ecosystems by creating opportunities for a two-way bridge for knowledge exchange, business partnerships and skills development, while supporting the exploration and adoption of open-source technologies. What this means for both countries: 🤝Kenyan and German companies gain direct market linkages and new business partnerships 🤝IT talent on both sides gets access to expanded digital job opportunities Open-source technologies are adopted and advanced through shared expertise, not one-way transfer 🤝 Industry, academia and innovators in both ecosystems connect and collaborate directly 🤝Building on the momentum of the Kenya - Germany Digital Dialogue, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, expanding digital opportunities and creating an enabling environment for sustainable digital growth. As a key partner in the EU's Global Gateway strategy, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH proudly implements GET.invest, a leading European multi-donor programme driving clean energy investments in partner countries.    To date, GET.invest has supported 690+ renewable energy project developers and companies, with almost 150 securing financing agreements, mobilising over €590 million in investments. As part of this year’s EU Green Week, we joined forces with the BioökonomieREVIER to host our event “Competing for a Nature-Positive Economy: How Can Sustainable Chemistry Drive Europe’s Next Global Lead?”   The discussion brought together representatives from industry, policy, research, and innovation to explore how Sustainable Chemistry can contribute to both Europe’s competitiveness and the transition to a nature-positive economy.   It was great to bring experts from different fields together and hear their perspectives on this important topic. One message came through clearly: building a nature-positive economy requires goal orientated hands-on cooperation across global value chains. 🌍 The importance of Democracy in Challenging Times Today, Brussels becomes the heart of a vital conversation as over 150 participants from EU institutions, member states, civil society, academia, and the private sector convene for the Team Europe Democracy (#TED) Annual Meeting 2026. Under the theme “Strengthening Governance, Defending Democracy,” this gathering is more than a discussion—it’s a commitment to action in the face of global democratic challenges. In the event a special emphasis is placed on the role the #private #sector will play for democracy and how to engage with it. Amidst a rise of authoritarian movements, our panelists Mandeep Tiwana (CIVICUS), Joan Hoey (EIU), and Tin Gazivoda (D-Hub) tackle the question: is democratic resilience a myth or reality? Also, we are proud to present the work from our partners on the ground. For example, HiiL through a TED grant is showing its progress in improving the lives of people and communities in Uganda by supporting fair resolutions for domestic violence problems in Uganda. Among others the annual meeting will address the following questions: ✔ How can we integrate democratic principles by design into international partnerships? ✔ How do we safeguard civic spaces and foster resilience against democratic backsliding? ✔ Can accountability and rule of law thrive in constrained environments? We are looking forward to seeing our many international members in person. GIZ is honored to implement the Team Europe Democracy Initiative, working alongside Enabel to turn strategy into impact. Strong #TeamEurope partnerships create a stronger impact.    This is something Austrian Development Agency (ADA) CEO Bernd Brünner and I strongly believe in.     It was a pleasure to discuss the many ways in which ADA and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH are already working closely together – across projects, regions, and thematic priorities, including in Ukraine.     What stands out is the quality of our cooperation and our shared ambition behind it: combining expertise to create tangible, sustainable development impact together with our partners, advancing their interests as well as our shared European ones. I am proud to see our joint initiatives translate into real results on the ground.     During the GIZ co-Presidencies of the Practitioners' Network for European Development Cooperation’ with Czech Development Agency - CzechAid and Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo, we are proud to build on important foundations that ADA initiated together with Expertise France during their co-Presidency in 2024 and 2025.
