Fill in the blank:   In a senior-level job search, the hardest thing to show is __________.    At this level, you may have years of experience, multiple wins and a lot of context behind your career decisions, but employers still need to understand your value quickly. The challenge is knowing what to highlight, what to simplify and how to connect your story to the role in front of you. What’s hardest to show? Strategic impact   Leadership style   Judgment & decision-making  Executive presence    Quick tip: Senior-level applications tend to be stronger when they focus on relevance, not volume. Choose the 2-3 results, decisions and leadership examples that best match the role, then make those easy to find and understand. #FillInTheBlankFriday #Altis

“Do you use AI?” is no longer a useful interview question. At this point, most candidates will say yes. What you really need to understand is how they use AI, how they evaluate the output, where they draw the line and where they rely on their own expertise. Here are four deeper questions we like to ask instead: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? Listen for more than the name of a tool. A strong answer will explain the problem, how AI supported the work, how they further edited and what the candidate contributed themselves. 𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗔𝗜-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁?  This can tell you how the candidate evaluates accuracy, challenges assumptions and knows when human review is needed. 𝟯. 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁? Most candidates are prepared to talk about the wins. This question gives you a better view of their self-awareness and accountability. 𝟰. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀? Listen for a clear understanding of approved tools and what information should never be entered into a public AI platform. Then take the conversation one step further. Give the candidate a realistic scenario from the role and ask them to explain how they would approach it, including where they might use AI and where they would rely on their own, human judgment. For example: “You need to analyze a large amount of data and prepare a recommendation for leadership by tomorrow. How would you approach the task? Where could AI help you, and where wouldn’t it?” Hiring AI Talent in 2026? Over the last three months, we tried something a little different at Altis. Instead of bringing everyone together for our traditional spring company event, each team planned its own social experience, with one goal: create space for people to step away from the day-to-day and spend meaningful time together. And that looked different across every one of our teams: cook-offs, escape rooms, pasta-making classes, outdoor games, pool parties, book bedazzling. No two events looked the same, which was part of the fun and what made this special. They also gave people time to connect outside of their usual workday. Colleagues who don't always get much time together had a chance to talk, share stories, laugh and get to know each other better. That matters because trust and connection are part of how we work, and moments like these help keep that strong. We're grateful to the leaders and event planning team who put so much thought into creating experiences that felt right for their teams. It was a good reminder that time together outside of work matters just as much as the work itself. Have a creative idea for an activity our team should try next year? We want to hear it!

Employment gaps are common, but they can still feel hard to talk about.  In our last #FillInTheBlankFriday poll asking what the hardest part of explaining an employment gap is, you told us “worrying how it looks.”  And that makes sense. When there’s a gap on your resumé, it’s easy to wonder what a recruiter or hiring manager might assume.  In our experience, a clear, honest explanation is usually all that's needed. Practise an answer that gives the interviewer enough context, then bring the conversation back to what matters now: your skills, your experience and why you’re ready for the next opportunity.  We often find candidates worry more about their employment gap than recruiters do. Most hiring managers are looking for enough context to understand your timeline before turning their attention to your experience. Our latest blog gives tips and many examples on how to talk about a career gap on your resumé, LinkedIn and in interviews: https://lnkd.in/g36BtNRg

We're back, and we're just as thrilled as last year! For the second year in a row, Forbes and Statista have recognized Altis as one of 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮'𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀. This year's rankings were shaped by feedback from hiring managers, HR leaders, recruiters and candidates, along with market performance data. Knowing this recognition is shaped by the experiences of the people we work with makes it especially meaningful to us. For us, this reflects something we've believed for more than 37 years: recruitment is about people. It's about taking the time to understand what success looks like, staying close to what's happening in the market, offering thoughtful guidance and building relationships that help both clients and candidates move forward with confidence. Here's how our CEO, Erin Campbell, CHRL, puts it: "This recognition means so much because it reflects the impact our team gets to make every single day. We have the privilege of helping companies build great teams, while supporting people through some of the biggest moments in their careers. This is something that we never take for granted. I'm incredibly proud of the care and commitment our team brings to every conversation, and I'm thankful to everyone who has trusted us to be part of their journey." To everyone who has partnered with us and cheered us on, thank you. We're grateful to be part of your story. And to every member of the Altis team, this recognition wouldn't be possible without you.

Most people think references are just the final box to check before they receive a job offer. They're not. By the time an employer reaches out to your references, they're often looking for reassurance that they're making the right hiring decision. A strong reference reinforces everything you've shared throughout the hiring process. A weak or generic one can quietly introduce doubt. We've put together a practical guide that covers: > Who makes the strongest reference  > How employers use references today  > How many references you should have  > Whether "References available upon request" still belongs on your resume (spoiler: it doesn't) Swipe through, then read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/gpBfkV6K  What's the best advice you've ever received about choosing references?

Some recognitions mean a little more because they come from the people who know you best. We're proud to share that Altis has been named one of 𝗛𝗥𝗗 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮'𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it's based on employee feedback. It reflects how our team experiences working at Altis every day, from the support they receive to the relationships they build and the culture they're part of. For more than 37 years, we've believed that strong relationships lead to better outcomes. That belief shapes how we work with our clients and candidates, but it starts with how we show up for one another. As a remote-first team, we know that connection doesn't happen by accident. We make time to come together, celebrate wins, share ideas and support each other because those moments matter. They build trust and help us do our best work. As Erin Campbell, CHRL, CEO of Altis, puts it:  "We've always believed that great work starts with great people. Knowing our team feels supported, connected and proud to work here is what makes this recognition so special." To everyone on our team who took the time to share their feedback, and to every person who helps make Altis the kind of place people want to be a part of, thank you. This recognition belongs to you.
