A welcome sight on the Yellowhead Pipeline Project: pipe on the move. Following the positive AUC decision we received last week, we continue to make great momentum on the project. It’s great to see years of planning start to take shape as the first pipe deliveries make their way to site – a milestone worth celebrating. These loads mark an important step forward as the project continues to progress. Thanks to everyone involved in safely coordinating these deliveries.

Last week, ATCO Gas crews responded alongside emergency services following a serious incident in northwest Edmonton that resulted in damage to natural gas infrastructure and service disruptions for approximately 1,700 customers. Throughout the response, our teams worked around the clock to safely isolate the affected system, support emergency responders, restore service and complete customer relights for impacted residents. At the peak of the response, more than 60 employees from across the province, contractors and support teams were mobilized to help safely isolate the system and restore service, with additional resources supporting incident management, communications and customer response efforts throughout the event. Thank you to our field crews, Control Centre and Emergency Communications teams, Customer Care representatives and everyone who supported the response behind the scenes. Your professionalism, teamwork and unwavering focus on safety helped ensure customers could safely return to service as quickly as possible. We're proud of the dedication our employees show every day in support of the communities we serve.

Following regulatory approval of the Yellowhead Pipeline Project, ATCO Energy Systems’ Chief Operating Officer, Jason Sharpe joined BNN Bloomberg to discuss how this critical infrastructure investment will help meet Alberta's growing energy needs and support long-term economic growth. The project is expected to support more than 2,000 construction jobs, enable significant downstream investment, and create opportunities for Indigenous participation along the route. Across Alberta and the Pacific Northwest, energy demand is growing at a pace our systems have never experienced before, driven by AI, data centres, industrial development and population growth. At the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) Summit, ATCO Energy Systems Vice President, Business Development & Commercial Mike Shaw joined energy leaders from across Canada and the U.S. to discuss how rising demand is reshaping the energy landscape. The message was clear: natural gas and electricity infrastructure can no longer be treated as a given. Future growth will depend on firm, reliable and deliverable capacity, supported by proactive investment, faster planning and permitting, and long-term policy certainty. For ATCO Energy Systems, that means investing ahead of demand across both gas and electric systems to support homes, businesses, industry and emerging opportunities like data centres. It also highlights the importance of regional connectivity and projects like ATCO’s Yellowhead Pipeline, which can help serve large loads, support industrial growth and strengthen energy flows across Western Canada, the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The path forward requires collaboration across governments, utilities, regulators, industry and Indigenous partners. The regions that build ahead of demand will win the next generation of economic growth. #EnergyInfrastructure #NaturalGas #Electricity #EnergySecurity #PNWER #EconomicDevelopment

The Yellowhead Pipeline received final approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission and construction will begin immediately. This transformative project will strengthen Alberta’s natural gas infrastructure, support economic growth and help meet increasing demand for reliable energy across the province. Once in service, the pipeline will deliver over 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas to the system per day. That’s the same amount of energy delivered by Alberta’s entire electricity system on a peak day. A $2.9 billion investment, the Yellowhead Pipeline is a defining project for our company and a clear commitment to strengthening Alberta’s economy and energy infrastructure: ➡️ 2,000 direct jobs created during construction ➡️ Catalyzing significant downstream economic development, supporting an estimated 12,000 additional construction jobs and 20,000 permanent jobs annually once associated downstream investments are operational ➡️ An estimated $3.9 billion contribution to Alberta’s GDP each year once operational Thank you to the employees, contractors, Indigenous partners, communities and stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration will bring this project to life. Earlier this month, teams from ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric came together in Grande Prairie for a joint Safety Day to share how work gets done across teams and reinforce what keeps crews safe in the field. There was also a strong focus on energy-based safety and understanding of high-energy hazards that have the potential to cause serious harm if not controlled. The day reinforced that safety is a shared effort across teams!
