What's the difference between a sustainability report and a Digital Product Passport? One is claimed. The other is verifiable. Articles 9 and 10 of the EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) set the bar. DPP data must be accurate, complete, and up to date. It must be built on open standards, machine-readable, and transferable through an interoperable network without vendor lock-in. And it must stand up to outside scrutiny: market surveillance authorities and the conformity assessment behind every declaration of conformity rely on data an independent party can check. Self-reported figures in a PDF cannot meet that bar. A claim that anyone can verify against a tamper-evident record can. The Cardano Foundation help to provide enterprises with an integrity layer that anchors compliance data as independently verifiable evidence on the Cardano blockchain, while commercially sensitive information stays in the enterprise systems that hold it. Individual members of a data cooperative shouldn't have to trust the books—they should be able to check them directly. That's the idea behind our new partnership with Reef Data eG, a Hamburg-based data cooperative, announced today. The project uses Reeve, the Foundation's open-source reporting transparency platform, to record the cooperative's payment flows transparently and auditably on the Cardano blockchain. What changes in practice: cooperative members can record sales, reward distributions, and member payouts on-chain, which allows them to independently verify financial flows rather than relying on the cooperative's records alone. Over 90% of companies that claim to plant trees, restore ecosystems, or offset their carbon footprint never publish what actually happened. Not because they're hiding something. We're proud to be featured in Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC)'s 101 Real-World Blockchain Use Cases Handbook (2026 Edition), use case #56. Our entry is Reeve: tamper-evident audit attestations for regulated financial reporting. Confidential data stays inside an organization's existing accounting and ERP systems, while only the evidence and minimal metadata are anchored on Cardano as time-stamped, tamper-evident records. Auditors can confirm a statement existed and hasn't changed, without ever seeing the underlying figures. We proved it with our own books. In a 2024-2025 implementation, the Foundation integrated Reeve into its own ERP and worked with Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein to anchor a signed external audit attestation on Cardano.
