From learning to the investment stage! Women digital entrepreneurs from South Asia have completed the final live workshop of the eTrade for Women Academy’s Investment Readiness course. Over the past weeks, participants strengthened their understanding of the funding landscape, investor engagement and what it takes to build a stronger pitch. With thanks to Kartik Desai and Varun Chawla for leading the final session and helping participants sharpen their pitches, strengthen their investor readiness and prepare for the next stage. Now comes the next step: putting that learning into practice as they prepare to pitch at the Prabhav event in September, India’s premier impact investing forum. Join us in celebrating these women founders as they prepare to take their businesses to the investment stage. #eTradeforWomen #WomenEntrepreneurs #InvestmentReadiness #DigitalEconomy

Last week, I had the opportunity to facilitate a session at the UN Trade and Development eTrade for Women in Nairobi. The program brought together women digital entrepreneurs from across English-speaking Africa. We spoke openly about the difficult parts of scaling: deciding what to stop doing, changing how the company operates, and the team and leadership dynamics required at each growth stage. Thank you to eTradeforWomen and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for the invitation, and to the entrepreneurs who made the discussion practical and engaging. • Last week, 22 women digital entrepreneurs from 6 English-speaking African countries came together in Nairobi, to attend the the #eTradeforWomen Masterclass. They strengthened their knowledge on how to grow digital businesses, from finance for growth to strategic partnerships, to online presence and artificial intelligence, to intellectual property and pitching with confidence. We thank the Government of Kenya for its active contribution. We also acknowledge the contribution of national stakeholders, partners and experts for their engagement in supporting the Masterclass and enriching the discussions. We are grateful to Hilda Moraa, eTrade for Women Advocate for English-speaking Africa, for bringing her leadership, policy insight and entrepreneurial experience to the programme. We also recognize the role of Community Leaders Ingrid Aringaniza, Nelly NKWOSSEU NOUTCHA 🇫🇷🇨🇲🇰🇪 and Titi Ogunsina-Taiwo, in fostering exchange, peer learning and regional connections throughout the Masterclass. This initiative is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Government of the Netherlands, one of ECDE's core donors. • “Governments can create an enabling environment for digital entrepreneurship to thrive, but policies only achieve impact when entrepreneurs know how to use the opportunities it creates.” - H.E. Mercy W., Secretary to the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya. At today’s Policy Dialogue, held as part of the eTrade for Women Masterclass in Nairobi, participants saw what this means in practice. Women digital entrepreneurs heard first-hand from key stakeholders shaping Kenya's digital economy and explored how policy frameworks can translate into practical pathways for business growth. At the centre of the discussion, H.E. Mercy Wanjau, shared the government perspective on national policies and institutional frameworks supporting women digital entrepreneurs, including how Kenya’s National Digital Masterplan is helping create a more vibrant digital entrepreneurship ecosystem. The dialogue also brought together voices to connect policy with the realities of business growth: 🌍 Prof. Tabitha Kiriti Nganga set the broader continental context, including how AfCFTA frameworks can open new market opportunities for women-led digital businesses. 💰 Hilda Moraa, eTrade for Women Advocate for English-speaking Africa, brought the perspective of an entrepreneur and fintech leader working to close financing gaps for women-led businesses. 📦 Muktar Abdullahi shared how public infrastructure, including Kenya Post and one-stop-shop models such as Huduma Centres, can help bring digital services, logistics and e-commerce support closer to MSMEs. This is what makes #eTradeforWomen Masterclasses unique. They are carefully designed around what women digital entrepreneurs need to grow: practical learning, direct access to expertise and a clearer view of the systems shaping their businesses.

  • A stronger business comes before a stronger pitch. For Tanya Wadhwa, co-founder of Shiftzzy, the #eTradeforWomen community helped her look beyond how to raise capital and focus on what makes a business ready for investment. Through investor readiness and business model sessions, she thought more strategically about growth, investment and scale, exploring questions many founders face: 💡 Is the business ready? 📈 Is the timing right? 🎯 Is funding aligned with the strategy? Her experience shows that investment readiness is not only about pitching well. It is about building with clarity, structure and purpose. For women digital entrepreneurs, what will it take to lead in the age of AI? According to research by the World Economic Forum, conducted in collaboration with Microsoft and EY, women lead 50% of social enterprises but only 25% of AI-driven social innovations. As #AIforGood and the #WSIS Forum made clear, digital transformation must be inclusive by design. But inclusion does not happen through technology alone. It also depends on access to knowledge, networks and support. That is where community matters. Across Africa, Latin America and Asia, members of the #eTradeforWomen community are already using AI and digital tools to turn complex challenges into practical business solutions. Through the community, women entrepreneurs can: 🤝 Connect with industry experts 📚 Access learning opportunities 💬 Exchange experience with peers 🌍 Build regional and global networks Join the eTrade for Women community: https://lnkd.in/euZsJuA9 #WomenEntrepreneurs #DigitalEconomy #AI #WomenInTech

#WomenEntrepreneurs #DigitalEconomy #DataForDevelopment #MarketIntelligence #CotedIvoire
