Behind every #ClimateResilience initiative are farmers like Shivkumari, navigating increasingly unpredictable seasons. We're pleased to see this intervention delivering positive impact on the ground. Through the collaboration of Blue Marble, Samunnati Foundation, the Howden Foundation, and SCBF, #innovative #insurancesolutions are becoming more accessible, helping strengthen the resilience of farming households
For Shivkumari, farming has become increasingly unpredictable. #ExtremeHeatInsurance Her family depends entirely on agriculture for their livelihood. But the weather no longer follows familiar patterns. When the crops need rain, the days are unusually hot. When sunshine is needed, heavy rains arrive instead. These changing conditions affect crop yields, household income, and the family's ability to plan for the future. Shivkumari's story is just one among millions. Across rural India, smallholder farmers are adapting to increasingly unpredictable weather, where every season brings new challenges and new uncertainties. Through Riddhi Satya Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), Shivkumari learned about parametric insurance and chose to enrol. By providing financial support when predefined weather thresholds are met, the programme helps farmers better manage the financial impact of climate-related events and continue investing in their livelihoods. This initiative is being implemented by Samunnati Foundation and Blue Marble Microinsurance, with support from the SCBF and the Howden Foundation, to strengthen climate resilience for farming communities across India.
