We're excited to share that Innovation Fund Denmark backed us for the second time in 12 months. GLYON has been awarded €300k in a second Innobooster grant to accelerate the scale-up of our chemical recycling technology. Two grants from the same institution means a lot to us. We’ve just wrapped an inspiring kick-off week, connecting with an amazing cohort of founders and startups, and diving headfirst into what promises to be an intense and transformative journey. ♻️ Big news from Brussels: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) will become a reality across the EU Producers will be required to cover the costs of collecting, sorting, reusing, and recycling the products they place on the market. This obligation applies to all producers, including those selling through e-commerce platforms, whether they are based within the EU or outside it. EU member states will have 20 months from the directive’s entry into force to implement the rules into their national legislation. 🔎 But what does this mean in practice? ✅ For brands and importers: They will have pay EPR fees into national schemes, calculated based on factors such as textile weight, material type, and product design etc. ✅ For recyclers like GLYON: EPR will help implement powerful tools to scale business, like: Eco-modulation: Means lower EPR fees for textiles produced taking into account, amongst other things, incorporation of raw recycled materials. For example, if producers use our recycled materials instead of virgin ones, they'll pay a lower EPR fee. Here an example from the French system of what this could look like: https://lnkd.in/dscXp5UJ Take-back programs:  Return of used, unwanted, or discarded textile products for recycling, repurposing, or responsible disposal. These initiatives already exist, but with EPR they will become the norm, helping to generate a steady flow of post-consumer textiles to supply the textile recycling industry. This legislation is a milestone for our industry: it will directly influence product design, material choices, and business models in the years to come.
