• Each graduate is allowed to bring 6 guests and everyone must walk in together. No exceptions.
  • Please note: Minors are included in the total maximum of 6 guests, so please make arrangements ahead of time and plan accordingly.
• All graduates will be seated in alphabetical order, with the exception of CSF Life Members, Valedictorians, and ceremony speakers who will be sitting in the front rows.

If you are on the OHS Senior Debt List, then you MUST come on campus to get cleared. All outstanding library debt, technology charges, and overdue textbooks must be returned or paid for by the deadline of 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 31st, to receive your diploma during the graduation ceremony. If you are not on the OHS Senior Debt List, then you do not need to come on campus to get cleared, ou have already been cleared by library staff.

Textbook returns and/or payments in CASH ONLY can be made at the Library’s Textbook Room service windows during the following times:
Tuesday, May 30th: 8:00am until 3:00pm.
Wednesday, May 31st: 8:00am until 12:00pm.• 

• If you owe a textbook or charges from another school in our, district, you may return the items or pay for them at OHS Library.
• If you owe a technology charge for an iPad brick, iPad lightning cable, laptop/tablet power cords, device cases, and any mobile devices you may either pay the outstanding charge or bring the item to get cleared.
• Any payments made on lost textbooks/technology accessories will be reimbursed if found within two years of payment.

OLYMPIAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ZYANIA RIOS NAMED SCHOLAR BY THE NATIONAL CYBER SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

Zyanya Rios has been named a Scholar by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation. In recognition of her achievement, Zyanya has earned an invitation to participate in the Cyber Foundations Academy – a multi-week online program based on the nationally recognized SANS Foundations training course and certification – valued at more than $3,000.

Thousands of high school students nationwide participated to score points while solving a wide range of cybersecurity challenges through an exciting online cybersecurity training program sponsored by the NCSF. Congratulations Eagle!

NATIONAL CENTER FOR WOMEN & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EVENT ON CAMPUS ON TUESDAY, MAY 16 AFTER SCHOOL

PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

This internship program aims to empower high school students by allowing them to contribute to their community while gaining practical skills and insights into the field of education. Here are some key details about the internship:

Internship Duration: Ongoing with intersession and after school opportunities throughout the year

Upcoming Intersession Dates: June 1st-30th

Hours: 8:30-5:30

Compensation: $16 per hour

Requirements: Proof of negative TB test. If over 18, Fingerprinting & background check is required.

Paid internship Location: Mendoza Elementary

Benefits of the Internship:

1. Practical Experience: This internship offers an invaluable opportunity for high school students to work closely with experienced elementary school teachers. They will assist in classroom activities, lesson planning, and student support, gaining hands-on experience in a real educational setting.

A message from Principal Huslin

Dear Eagle Community,

On Wednesday, May 3, we became aware of writing in a restroom describing hatred toward our school. We immediately informed Chula Vista PD and our district office and began our investigation. Out of an abundance of caution, we heightened our campus security and asked CVPD to increase their presence on our campus through Monday, May 8.

I assure you that our priority is the safety and well-being of our students. We will continue to monitor social media and any other information regarding this or any other incidents. We appreciate all tips from our students and parents.

MAY 1 IS PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION DAY

SUMMER TRIGONOMETRY BRIDGE AVAILABLE: TAKE AP CALCULUS NEXT YEAR

Olympian High School will offer an intense two-week Summer bridge, Trigonometry, for an elective credit, so that students can take AP Calculus in the Fall. 

The course is only available to Integrated Math III and Compacted Math students that successfully complete the course.  

There are some strict requirements for taking the course:

* Students will earn an elective in trigonometry, they must still take a full year of math next year. 

* Students MUST commit to attending a two-week course, including Saturday:                     

 – Week 1: Monday – Saturday, June 5 – 10, 7:30am to 11:45am 

                   – Week 2: Monday – Saturday, June 12 – 17, 7:30am to 11:45am 

                   – Midterms and Finals are on Saturdays, so students might end       

                       earlier when they finish the review and exam

* Students CANNOT miss a day and must complete the required “in-person” hours. No other arrangements are available.

METRO CONFERENCE WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY

PTSO EXECUTIVE BOARD OPENINGS AND ELECTION

Dear Olympian High School Families,

We are seeking candidates to run for PTSO Executive Board positions for the 2023-2024 school year. The Olympian Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization formed to provide educational support to the students and teachers of Olympian High School.

The PTSO provides resources to the faculty and staff to help achieve educational goals and academic experiences that may not be available under the school’s and district’s budget.  The PTSO also supports Senior Class scholarships, Faculty & Staff Appreciation, and many other efforts that improve the learning environment at Olympian High School.  

All executive board positions are open. (See description of executive officers’ duties below.) If you are interested in running for a PTSO executive board position, please send your name, the position which you are interested in, and a brief candidate’s statement to olympianptso1925@gmail.com by May 5, 2023. The election will be held at the next General Membership Meeting on May 9th.   

Description of PTSO Executive Board Officers’ Duties:

President – shall supervise the general management of the organization. The president shall supervise and direct monthly meetings, provide a written agenda for meetings, appoint chairpersons of standing committees as needed, sign contracts and documents on behalf of the organization with Board approval, work closely with the principal or designee, serve as a liaison with School Site Council or other school-related organization(s).

Vice-President – shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence, assist the President with monthly meetings, assist in selection and supervision of committee chairpersons, and distribute and collect accurate and updated Board notebooks.

Secretary – shall maintain written records of all meetings, post copies of minutes, record all motions and voting results, record attendance of Board members at meetings, be responsible for all PTSO correspondence and publicity, provide documentation as needed for all PTSO-sponsored events, including evidence of liability coverage.

Treasurer – shall be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all financial affairs of the PTSO, for payment and maintenance of annual liability insurance, presenting a written monthly financial report at meetings, ensure all financial records are audited annually, ensure expenditures are approved by the Board, maintain a checking account requiring two signatories, and prepare a proposed PTSO budget.

Parliamentarian – shall keep a current list of standing rules and advise the board on any question regarding the rules that may arise, review existing bylaws at least once a year ,and make any recommendations for revisions.

Communications Coordinator (Historian) – shall maintain social media pages of activities, record and maintain a “ Lessons Learned” document for PTSO events and activities, and maintain an inventory list of PTSO materials and equipment.

This event is open to all high school students in SUHSD and their families. All attendees must pre-register using this LINK.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE CLASS OF 2023 CSF LIFETIME MEMBERS!

This year we will be having a celebratory banquet on May 19th at 5 pm in the Gym with a sit-down dinner to honor and recognize all the CSF Lifetime members. At this ceremony, students will receive their CSF Lifetime Membership stoles that recognize students who are graduating with Honors. 

This is a semi-formal event for students and families. All CSF Life will have an opportunity to share their intended post-secondary plans. There will also be a photo booth and other activities for students and families.

 All CSF Lifetime Members are invited and do not have to pay for themselves. If families want to attend to support and celebrate they will need to pay $20 per person which covers dinner and activities. 

Payment must be made to ASB in advance and a receipt of payment will be given.  **All payments are due by May 12th (NO EXCEPTIONS) **

SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE SUMMER READINESS PROGRAM (SRP)

New announcement Southwestern College’s EOPS Summer Readiness Program (SRP) is now accepting applications for their Summer 2023 cohort.  High School seniors who plan to attend SWC this Fall semester are encouraged to apply for the SRP Program. SRP is a college immersion program geared to prepare our local high school student to successfully transition from high school to college. Over the summer, SRP students will take a Personal Development and Communication or Ethnic Study courses at SWC. Tomorrow from 7:55am to 12:00pm is the last Saturday School before report cards, students can clear absences and/or tardies. Students should report at 7:55am to the main office, a teacher will greet them there. We ask that they bring their charged laptop.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN SENIOR ACTIVITIES

Students need to have 6 or less periods of absences and 6 or less tardies. Absences can be cleared by serving Saturday School. Tardies can be cleared through lunch detention or Saturday School.

**All future 9th – 12th grade students MUST comply with clearing residency and immunizations in order to start school on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. This must be done  BEFORE May 20, 2023, to be processed and secure their spot before staff leaves for summer break.

C. Students who are CURRENTLY at OLH on an Intra/Inter district transfer MUST meet the following requirements to remain an OLH student:

1. Minimum 2.0 scholarship GPA at the grading periods

2. Minimum 2.0 citizenship GPA at the grading periods

3. Excellent attendance

4. No behavioral offenses, no suspendable offenses

**The APs office will send group notifications to families who will need to enroll at their home school by May 1, 2023. 

SUMMER SCHOOL

Sign up for Summer School by April 21, 2023. As a reminder, students must select the course or courses they need for summer school.
