Craig Love
I am currently a Tutor in Politics & International Relations at the University of Essex International College. I hold a PhD in Ideology & Discourse Analysis from the University of Essex where I am also a member of the Centre for Ideology and Discourse Analysis (cIDA) and the Centre for the study of Democracy, Signification and Resistance (DESIRE) research groups.
My PhD thesis, Myths of the Nation: A Discursive-Genealogical Investigation of Scottish Nationalism, investigated the ways in which elements of Scottish nationalism were articulated and utilised by various pro-independence groups and individuals, adopting an Essex School Poststructuralist Discourse Theory framework coupled with a Foucauldian inspired genealogy. My broader research interests include Scottish politics and nationalism; the role and application of language in the works of Essex School Discourse Theory; applications of Q-methodology; the role of sport and culture in the formation and practice of identities.
Supervisors: Prof. David Howarth
