  • We joined the Satellite & NewSpace Matters podcast to talk about something that changed fast: space is now a defence domain, and most small satellites still can’t move. The majority of small satellites fly with no propulsion system at all. In a contested orbit, that’s a sitting duck - no collision avoidance, no orbit maintenance, no way out of the way. Our CEO Pekka Blomberg, CTO Perttu Yli-Opas and CCO Aziza I. Ibrayeva get into why maneuverability is becoming a baseline requirement, why water propulsion is built for it, non-toxic, ITAR-free, ships pre-fuelled, and why the smallest, fastest-to-deliver systems are the ones the new missions need. Full episode below. Thanks to Callum Davis, Laurie Scott and the neuco team for having us.

  • Day 1 of the India Space Congress 2026 in New Delhi, and what a start. Our CCO, Aziza I. Ibrayeva, is on the ground representing Aurora Propulsion Technologies, and the response to our propulsion portfolio has been fantastic. The conversations kept coming back to the same things people love about our systems: → Water as propellant. Non-toxic and inert, it takes away the logistics headaches, the extra certifications, and the hazardous fuelling operations at the launch site that come with traditional chemical propellants. Easier to ship, easier to integrate, easier to fuel. → A small form factor with strong total impulse, real performance without the volume penalty. → Short lead times, so propulsion stops being the bottleneck in your schedule. → A fully redundant propulsion system, peace of mind on mission-critical platforms. India’s space sector is booming, ambitious constellations, in-orbit servicing, space security, and the appetite for international collaboration is real. A huge thank you to Business Finland and Aasheesh Chudasama for the support that helps Finnish innovation reach this market, and to our partners in India for the warm welcome and the great discussions. Day 1 delivered. Looking forward to Day 2. #IndiaSpaceCongress #SpaceTech #Propulsion #SmallSat #Finland #India #SpaceSustainability

  • The Indian space economy is projected to reach $44B by 2033. But with rapid growth comes the responsibility of orbital debris management and precise maneuverability. At Aurora Propulsion Technologies, we believe the future of LEO depends on collision avoidance and sustainable end-of-life solutions that don't compromise mission mass. Next week, our leadership team will be in New Delhi for the India Space Congress organized by SIA-India to discuss how our water-based propulsion and plasma brake technologies can support the next generation of Indian satellite missions. Who is attending: Pekka Blomberg, CEO Aziza I. Ibrayeva, CCO Where to find us: 📍 Hotel Le Méridien, New Delhi 📅 June 15 – June 17 We are looking to connect with satellite manufacturers, mission integrators, and strategic partners who view space sustainability as a competitive advantage, not just a compliance checkbox. Let’s secure the future of LEO together.

  • Commercial satellites are getting bigger. Defence satellites are getting smaller. Last week at SmallSat Europe in Amsterdam, both walked up to our booth needing the same thing: propulsion that’s compact, safe, and dependable. Three days, 21 qualified conversations, with direct customers and end users, defence included. People didn’t arrive curious. They arrived with requirements. What we took home: → The five-year deorbit rule (ESA and FCC) has moved disposal from an end-of-life afterthought to a launch-day design decision. → The hard constraints haven’t changed: geometry, total impulse, thrust, redundancy, explosion risk. Every propulsion choice trades between them. → Our shipping ARM-O module already runs on water, fully redundant, in a 0.6U/1U envelope - no hazmat, no single point of failure. We also gave a first look at ARM-O Gen2, now in development. The design targets more than 6x the thrust of today’s module, up to 20 mN, in the same envelope and mass. Build completes through 2026, first deliveries in 2027. One more thing: SmallSat Europe earned the trip. Paid entry, serious people, real conversations. Is the five-year rule already changing how you spec propulsion? Curious what you’re seeing. Raj Singh Khehar, thanks for organizing this event! #SmallSatEurope #SpacePropulsion #Deorbiting #AuroraPropulsion #Waterresistojets

  • Day one of SmallSat Europe is done and it confirmed what we're hearing across the industry: in-space maneuverability and RPO are moving from "nice to have" to mission-critical. Great to reconnect with longtime collaborators and meet new partners thinking about the same question we are: how do you protect, inspect, and reposition high-value assets in an increasingly contested orbit? That's exactly what our propulsion portfolio, ARM resistojet modules and MEPE, is built for. Reconnaissance, protection, and remediation of cooperative and non-cooperative space assets. Stop by booth 214. We'd love to show you. #SmallSatEurope #InSpaceMobility #RPO #SpacePropulsion #SpaceDomainAwareness

  • A year ago, Aurora had new leadership, a product ready for its first customer, and a clear mandate: deliver. Here is what the team did. ✅ 📈 €1M — Revenue, 2025 ✅ ⏱️ 4 months — Order to delivery ✅ 🚀 1st — Commercial product delivered ✅ 🛰️ Orbit — First flight confirmed We shipped our first commercial propulsion system in 4 months from order to delivery. In space hardware, that lead time is record fast. It reached orbit. It performed. And we closed the year with €1 million in revenue - Aurora’s first commercial milestone. At our recent shareholder meeting, the board reviewed the year against every target set when Pekka Blomberg joined as the CEO of Aurora. Shareholder value has increased. The execution was real. Pekka Blomberg put it directly: “This year was about proving we can deliver - not in the lab, but to a customer, on an actual mission. We’ve done that. Now we build on it.” And from CoB Roope Takala, when confirmation came back from orbit: “That data validates every design decision we’ve made. It’s worth more than anything else we have.” Aurora is entering 2026 with its strongest pipeline to date. We are in active conversations with investors and there is clear interest in what we are building. We are being deliberate about who we grow with.

Congratulations Perttu Yli-Opas 🇫🇮 Founder of Aurora Propulsion Technologies (founded in 2018), on being nominated for Young Founder of the Year 2026, recognizing founders under 30. Aurora is addressing one of the space industry’s most urgent sustainability challenges: enabling satellites to actively manage their own orbit. The company develops unique in-space propulsion technologies that allow even the smallest satellites to stay mobile - avoiding collisions with other satellites and space debris, and safely deorbiting at end of life. As satellite numbers grow exponentially, orbital sustainability has become a critical global issue, driving increasing regulatory demands and more complex system requirements. Aurora’s series-produced solutions enable compliance with these tightening standards while delivering direct customer value in an ultra-compact form factor - translating into significant cost savings. With four satellites already launched and six more planned for 2026-2027, Aurora is rapidly emerging as a key player in in-space propulsion and space sustainability. www.aurorapt.space Finalists will be announced in June, with winners revealed at the Founders Awards Gala: https://lnkd.in/dCR285aT #FoundersAlliance #YoungFounderOfTheYear #SpaceTech #Sustainability #Innovation Founders Alliance

  • We recently had the privilege of hosting the team from The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE) at our office. Our discussions focused on Space Defense and Hybrid Warfare. Critical systems on Earth are increasingly dependent on satellites, and orbits are increasingly crowded and contested. We must treat satellites with the same level of security as power grids or water systems. By integrating advanced propulsion for maneuverability and fostering collaboration between tech innovators and policymakers, we can protect orbital assets as critical infrastructure against cascading disruptions on Earth. Thank you Breda Bunič , Jukka S. and Beata Varga for the direct and valuable exchange. We are focused on building the technology that keeps space and Earth secure. #SpaceDefense #Security #HybridThreats #SpaceSecurity #AuroraPropulsion #CriticalInfrastructure #NewSpace

  • A major milestone for the Aurora team: We have successfully conducted the first firing of the ARM-C Resistojet on the C3S #WISDOM mission. What just happened? 💫 Heaters On: We stabilized the thermal core. 💫 Valve Open: We injected a precise amount of water propellant. 💫 Thrust Generated: The water expanded into steam, generating the specific thrust needed to maneuver the satellite. We aren't just orbiting anymore; we are flying. The system is now ready for full collision avoidance maneuvers. Congratulations to the engineering teams at Aurora and C3S Electronics Development LLC! #FlightProven #Propulsion #Maneuver #SpaceSafety #NewSpace #EIC #EICAccelerator
