🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Milan Silvestre! After successfully defending his PhD on July 2nd, Milan presented part of his research this morning at ICMBE, showcasing his work on the simulation of GaAs growth on silicon based on kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) simulations of the dynamical evolution of a lattice model. As a CIFRE fellow at RIBER, Milan's PhD research covered the qualification of a new substrate preparation chamber, including the epitaxial growth of Si, Ge, and SiGe layers on Si and Ge substrates, as well as the development of III-V and IV semiconductor epitaxy on silicon substrates. His work contributes to advancing semiconductor heterointegration by combining experimental developments with advanced modeling approaches. Today, we are taking part in the PEPR Electronics Scientific Days in Lyon, France. On this occasion, Jean-Louis Guyaux (our CTO) will join the roundtable discussion on economic and strategic sovereignty in semiconductors, addressing a central question: which material value chains will have the greatest impact by 2030–2040?
