About George Bodine

George Bodine paints stunning landscapes and cityscapes, as well as portraits, utilizing both Plein air painting and studio techniques. Recently, he has been traveling extensively in Europe, and his paintings beautifully reflect his unique vision both here and abroad. He primarily works in oils, often sourcing materials from small, niche manufacturers. George meticulously hand stretches Belgian linen sized with rabbitskin glue and primed with traditional white lead—oil painting techniques that date back to the 16th century. Recently, he has also begun painting on sun-bleached Belgian linen, again primed with white lead, which is then glued to sealed Birch board or archival quality Artist's board. Despite never having taken an art lesson, his distinct vision, combined with these careful and proven techniques, ensures that his work will endure, making it possible to be handed down within families or collections for centuries.

George Bodine's goal is to create art that transcends time. His subject matter, particularly his unique style or 'voice' in painting, is unlike any other. His diverse subjects prevent him from fitting into a single genre, resulting in his work being sought after by a variety of collectors, including a U.S. Senator, a contemporary Art Museum, and a U.S. Embassy, along with hundreds of collectors across the U.S. and Europe. He was recently exhibited at the MEAM museum in Barcelona, Spain, and the Salmagundi Club in NYC. George often works on a series of paintings before abruptly moving on, sometimes never returning to the original subject. While he has traditionally been reclusive in associating with other living artists and organizations, he recently sought membership and was quickly accepted into the Oil Painters of America. Additionally, he has held 10 consecutive solo exhibitions, nearly all of which have sold out.
