  • 🌍 One Climate Risk Assessment, Multiple Business Benefits Over the past week, we've explored how climate risk assessment supports a growing range of requirements and frameworks, from LEED v5 and ISO 14001 to CSRD, ISSB, the EU Taxonomy, and infrastructure planning. The common thread? Organisations need a structured way to understand how climate change could affect their assets, operations, supply chains, and long-term strategy. This is where ISO 14090 (Adaptation to Climate Change) and ISO 14091 (Climate Risk Assessment) come in. These internationally recognised standards provide a practical framework for: ✅ Meeting regulatory and reporting expectations ✅ Strengthening business continuity and operational resilience ✅ Protecting assets and infrastructure ✅ Supporting insurance and risk management strategies ✅ Informing capital planning and investment decisions ✅ Building more resilient supply chains ✅ Identifying adaptation opportunities before risks become costly impacts Rather than conducting separate assessments for different frameworks, organisations can use a single, robust climate risk assessment to support multiple business objectives. Climate risk is no longer just a sustainability issue. It is a business issue, an investment issue, and a resilience issue. At Climate Matters, we help organisations assess climate risks and develop adaptation strategies aligned with ISO 14090 and ISO 14091, creating a strong foundation for resilience and compliance. 🔗 Learn more about our climate risk and adaptation services: https://lnkd.in/dsNNxEQf #ClimateRisk #ClimateAdaptation #ISO14090 #ISO14091 #BusinessResilience #ESRS #ISSB #EUTaxonomy #BusinessContinuity #AssetManagement #ClimateMatters

  • 🏗️ Infrastructure and Climate Risk: Planning for the Future Infrastructure assets are designed to operate for decades, yet climate conditions are changing faster than many assets were originally designed for. From transport networks and utilities to energy infrastructure and public facilities, organisations are increasingly expected to assess how future climate hazards could affect asset performance, service delivery, and investment decisions. In Ireland, the Infrastructure Guidelines (2023) and internationally recognised approaches such as the UK Treasury Green Book emphasise the importance of considering climate risk throughout the project lifecycle. Climate risk assessments can help infrastructure owners and operators: - Identify vulnerabilities to flooding, extreme heat, wind, drought, and coastal erosion - Prioritise adaptation investments - Strengthen business continuity and operational resilience - Protect long-term asset value - Support funding and investment decisions At Climate Matters, we help infrastructure owners understand current and future climate risks using methodologies aligned with ISO 14090 and ISO 14091, ensuring adaptation is integrated into planning and decision-making. Resilient infrastructure is not just about managing risk today, it's about ensuring assets continue to deliver value for decades to come. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dsNNxEQf #Infrastructure #ClimateRisk #ClimateAdaptation #Resilience #AssetManagement #BusinessContinuity #ISO14090 #ISO14091 #ClimateMatters #InfrastructurePlanning

  • 📊 Climate Risk Assessment: The Foundation of Modern Sustainability Reporting The regulatory landscape is changing rapidly. Whether you're reporting under CSRD and ESRS E1, aligning with IFRS S2 / ISSB, responding to CDP, or assessing compliance with the EU Taxonomy, one theme is becoming increasingly clear: 👉 Organisations need to understand their climate risks. These frameworks require companies to assess how climate change could affect their operations, assets, supply chains, strategy, and financial performance. A robust climate risk assessment helps organisations identify: - Physical risks such as flooding, extreme heat, drought, and storms - Transition risks arising from policy, technology, and market changes - Opportunities linked to climate adaptation and resilience At Climate Matters, we support organisations in conducting climate risk assessments aligned with ISO 14090 and ISO 14091, providing a practical foundation for climate disclosures and reporting requirements. Rather than treating each framework separately, organisations can use a single climate risk assessment to support multiple reporting obligations and strengthen business resilience. 🔗 Learn more about our climate risk services: https://lnkd.in/dsNNxEQf #CSRD #ESRSE1 #ISSB #IFRSS2 #CDP #EUTaxonomy #ClimateRisk #ClimateAdaptation #SustainabilityReporting #ClimateMatters

  • 📋 What Does Climate Change Mean for ISO 14001? Recent updates to ISO management system standards mean that organisations certified to ISO 14001 must consider whether climate change is relevant to their Environmental Management System. For many organisations, particularly those with significant physical assets, facilities, infrastructure, or supply chains, climate change is a material business risk that cannot be ignored. A structured climate risk assessment provides a robust way to identify how hazards such as flooding, extreme temperatures, storms, and water scarcity could affect operations and environmental performance. International standards such as ISO 14090 (Adaptation to Climate Change) and ISO 14091 (Climate Risk Assessment) provide practical frameworks for assessing climate risks and developing adaptation plans. By taking a proactive approach, organisations can strengthen operational resilience, support compliance objectives, and demonstrate good environmental management. At Climate Matters, we support organisations in conducting climate risk assessments and adaptation planning aligned with ISO 14090 and ISO 14091. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dsNNxEQf #ISO14001 #ISO14090 #ISO14091 #ClimateRisk #ClimateAdaptation #EnvironmentalManagement #BusinessResilience #ClimateMatters

  • 🌍 LEED v5 Raises the Bar on Climate Resilience Sustainability certifications are evolving. Under the latest version of LEED, organisations are now expected to consider how climate change could affect the long-term resilience of their assets and operations. A climate resilience assessment can help identify potential vulnerabilities to hazards such as flooding, extreme heat, water stress, and severe weather events, allowing organisations to plan adaptation measures before disruptions occur. For property owners and developers, this is becoming increasingly important not only for LEED v5 certification, but also for demonstrating resilience to investors, tenants, and stakeholders. Climate resilience assessments can also support wider sustainability reporting and asset management requirements, including GRESB. At Climate Matters, we help organisations assess climate risks and develop practical adaptation strategies using internationally recognised approaches, including ISO 14090 and ISO 14091. 🔗 Learn more about our climate risk and adaptation services: https://lnkd.in/dsNNxEQf #ClimateRisk #ClimateResilience #LEEDv5 #GRESB #Sustainability #ClimateAdaptation #RealEstate #BuiltEnvironment #ClimateMatters

The third webinar of our Sustainable Enterprise series - Thriving in a Changing Climate: Managing Climate Risk for Your Business, taking place on April 22nd, will support business leaders in understanding what climate risk means for their organisations. Climate change is becoming a direct and immediate business risk. While key stakeholders are asking companies to demonstrate how they understand and manage climate risks, many organisations have not yet assessed how future climate conditions could affect their facilities, assets, suppliers, or long term strategy. This webinar will explain what climate risk means for businesses today and why companies are increasingly expected to address it. It will also outline how climate risk analysis supports emerging disclosure and reporting frameworks. Participants will hear from Enterprise Ireland client companies Version 1 and Dawn Meats Ireland on practical steps to assess risks and build climate resilience.
