Before the trail begins, a little of the story behind our sculpture. Meet Peter Hoppings – our Peter Rabbit for Tales on the Tyne, designed by North East artist Sharon Armstrong in support of St Oswald's Hospice. The name is a nod to the Newcastle Hoppings, one of the UK's largest travelling fairs. "Hoppen" is thought to be an old word for dancing – all about community and people coming together. Sharon's design brings that spirit to life through colour, movement and a real sense of place. We can't wait to see Peter Hoppings out in the city this summer.
