From AI-powered care to Europe's biggest data initiatives, HIMSS Europe 2026 showed that digital health is moving beyond pilots and into real-world implementation. Over three days in Copenhagen, healthcare leaders, policymakers, providers, and innovators came together to discuss what it takes to build a more connected, secure, and intelligent healthcare system. Some of the biggest conversations at HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition Europe 2026 included 👇 🔸 The European Health Data Space (EHDS) and how it will reshape cross-border health data sharing across Europe. 🔸 The evolution of AI in healthcare, with discussions centred on governance, trust, and clinical adoption rather than just capability. 🔸 Strengthening healthcare cybersecurity and digital resilience as health systems become increasingly connected. 🔸 Digital transformation strategies from healthcare providers and health systems looking to scale innovation responsibly. AI is no longer the headline. Implementation is. That was one of the biggest takeaways from HLTH Europe 2026, where more than 5,000 healthcare leaders, startups, investors, providers, payers, policymakers, and technology companies gathered in Amsterdam to discuss the future of healthcare. We saw a shift in the conversation. For the last few years, healthcare has been asking: Can AI work? At HLTH Europe 2026, the question became: How do we deploy AI responsibly, at scale, and in a way that delivers measurable outcomes? Some of the key themes that dominated discussions 👇 🔹 AI moving from pilots to real-world deployment 🔹 Data interoperability becoming critical for AI success, especially with the European Health Data Space (EHDS) 🔹 Preventive healthcare and continuous monitoring gaining momentum 🔹 Workforce transformation and reducing clinician administrative burden 🔹 Collaboration emerging as the foundation for innovation The event also showcased how major healthcare and technology companies are already putting these ideas into practice. Among the notable developments: → Microsoft expanded its Trustworthy & Responsible AI Network (TRAIN) across Europe → Siemens Healthineers highlighted collaborations with healthcare providers and startups → Deloitte shared initiatives around AI adoption and digital health transformation Another highlight was the startup ecosystem. 🚀 500+ startup founders and 300 investors participated in the Startup Programme. 🏆 Resolyst took home the €30,000 Startup Pitch award, while companies such as Aignostics, Aktiia, C the Signs, Tandem Health, Tucuvi, and others showcased innovations across AI, diagnostics, and patient care. The message throughout the event was clear: Healthcare doesn't need more technology for the sake of technology. It needs solutions that integrate into clinical workflows, earn trust, scale effectively, and improve outcomes for patients and healthcare professionals. We've broken down the biggest discussions, announcements, collaborations, and startup highlights from HLTH Europe 2026 in our latest recap. While funding grabbed the headlines in June, some of the biggest healthtech stories happened outside the fundraising announcements. Here are a few developments that caught our attention: 🤝 NVIDIA and Abridge teamed up to build AI models for clinical conversations, aiming to help clinicians generate medical notes automatically and reduce documentation burden. ⌚ WHOOP scored a regulatory win after the FDA withdrew its complaint against the company's blood pressure insights feature, following updated guidance around wellness-focused blood pressure estimation. 💊 ŌURA partnered with Eli Lilly and Company to support patients using GLP-1 medications, combining wearable data with obesity and diabetes care programs to provide deeper health insights. 🔒 Patient privacy came back into focus after Australia's Privacy Commissioner, Carly Kind, found that Monash IVF and Medmate tracked patient searches and used tracking technologies without explicit consent, reigniting conversations around data governance in healthcare. 📉 Jivi AI, the healthcare AI startup founded by Ankur Jain, is reportedly shutting down less than two years after launch, highlighting the challenges of high AI infrastructure costs and fundraising in an increasingly competitive market. Taken together, these stories reflect the state of healthtech today: AI adoption is accelerating. Partnerships are becoming critical. Regulators are catching up. And sustainable business models matter as much as innovation. These developments will have a significant impact on how healthcare evolves over the next few years. Catch up on everything that happened in our latest HealthTech Roundup (link in the comments) — As we track the latest healthtech funding, innovation and market shifts, these conversations will also continue at the All Health X Tech Summit this month, where startups, investors, healthcare leaders and ecosystem builders will come together to explore what's next for healthcare innovation. June was another active month for healthtech funding, with investors backing startups across AI, diagnostics, precision medicine, preventive care and healthcare operations. A few rounds that stood out 👇 💰 Assort Health raised $120 million in a Series C round to scale its AI-powered patient access and engagement platform. 💰 Everlab secured ~US$45 million (AUS$65 million) to expand its preventive healthcare and longevity platform into new markets. 💰 xCures Inc. raised $46 million to strengthen its AI-driven precision medicine platform and advance oncology research. 💰 Prosper AI closed a $30 million Series A to expand AI solutions for patient management and care coordination. 💰 Orange Health Labs raised ₹277 crore ($30 million) to expand its on-demand diagnostics network across more Indian cities. 💰 4baseCare secured $14 million to scale genomics-driven personalised cancer care and strengthen its diagnostic infrastructure. 💰 Mykare.ai raised $3.2 million in seed funding to build AI-powered healthcare workforce solutions. What stands out is where the capital is flowing. Investors continue to back companies using AI to solve real healthcare challenges—whether it's improving patient access, accelerating diagnoses, enabling personalised treatments, supporting preventive care or helping healthcare providers operate more efficiently. The focus is shifting toward which companies can demonstrate measurable outcomes, clinical value and scalable business models.
