Israel Unveils NIS 1 Billion Fund to Support Tech Startups Israel has launched a $328 million fast-track funding programme to help startups affected by the stronger shekel, extending their operating runway and supporting continued R&D without premature fundraising. To assist tech startups grappling with the problem of financial constraints following the rapid appreciation of the Israeli shekel against the US dollar, the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) has established an urgent NIS 1 billion ($328 million) funding plan for tech startups. The program was designed to offer instant assistance to startup firms whose runway has been drastically reduced because of the fluctuation in the exchange rates. The program is aimed at startup firms and companies that are growing into more established enterprises but have less than twelve months of funding runway left. These companies can apply for grants and receive extensions of their funding runway through an efficient process by up to six months in order to meet their technology and commercial goals. Southeast Asia's AI Growth Faces Power and Water Hurdles Southeast Asia's AI ambitions are accelerating through major data centre investments, but power shortages, water constraints, infrastructure gaps, and regional competition are emerging as key challenges to sustainable AI growth. Southeast Asia is rapidly emerging as one of the world's fastest-growing destinations for #artificialintelligence (AI) infrastructure, but its ambitions are increasingly being tested by shortages of power, water, and critical infrastructure. While governments across the region are attracting billions of dollars in investments for AI-ready data centres and cloud facilities, sustaining this growth will depend on addressing resource constraints and intensifying regional competition. Countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam are competing to become regional AI hubs by offering incentives for hyperscale data centres, #semiconductormanufacturing, and digital infrastructure. Global technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle, and NVIDIA continue to expand their presence in the region, attracted by growing digital economies, strategic locations, and supportive government policies.
