The unit commitment problem (UCP) consists mainly in finding the minimum cost schedule for a set of generators by switching on or off each one over a given time horizon to meet the demand and satisfy different operational constraints, This research article integrates the crow search algorithm (CSA) as a local optimizer of Eagle strategy (ES) to solve unit commitment problem in smart grid system and economic dispatch of two electricity networks: a testing system 7 units and the Moroccan network.. The results obtained by ES-CSA are compared with various results obtained in the literature. Simulation results show that using ES-CSA can lead to finding stable and adequate power generated that can fulfill the need of both the civil and industrial areas.

Two thermal processes based on rectification and distillation were proposed to meet this critical requirement. A numerical simulation model was established in the FORTRAN language, building on the analytical Gibbs free energy equations. This model was validated from a thermodynamic point of view by previously published results. Preliminary results showed that when the efficiency of the absorber and boiler is increased, the vapors produced by the boiler become enriched in ammonia, and the overall exergy efficiency increases, which reduces considerably the irreversibility of the components of the studied absorption system. A comparative study of the effect of these two thermal processes on the overall exergy efficiency and total exergy losses was evaluated simultaneously. The results show that the refrigerator with a distiller has a higher exergy efficiency (?ex = 24.37% at 86?C), and at the same time has a lower total exergy loss (Exl,tot = 457.45 kW) than the refrigerator with a rectifier (?ex = 22.34% at 85?C; Exl,tot = 532.37 kW). This study reveals that the distillation process can contribute more to the exergy improvement and exergy loss minimization of the studied absorption refrigerator than the rectification process.

Thus, to ensure that the PV array produces the maximum possible power at any time and regardless of the external conditions, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques are required. The solution suggested in this paper involves taking into account two cascaded controllers as follows; the incremental conductance (INC) controller, which is intended to provide a reference proportional to the PV array's optimal power PMPP, and the sliding mode control (SMC), which is in charge of controlling the GPV voltage. The strategy of the SMC is to design a sliding surface that defines the operating point. The SMC combined with the INC aims to achieve fast MPPT action on PV systems using cascade control. The proposed controller is robust to changing weather conditions. In order to evaluate what is done, the results are compared with the INC+PI controller. When an abr...

A domestic wind turbine is also studied in Casablanca. For the same capacity, simulations in TRNSYS software prove that photovoltaic panels have a better yield than the domestic wind turbines. These wind generators can be coupled with the photovoltaic system in order to lessen the intermittence of the photovoltaic production at night and during short cloudy days.

This paper proposes the use of Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) for solving the economic and Emission dispatch. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been tested on 3 generator system. CSA is a new meta-heuristic optimization method inspired from the obligate brood parasitism of some cuckoo species by laying their eggs in the nests of other host birds of other species. The results shows that performance of the proposed approach reveal the efficiently and robustness when compared results of other optimization algorithms reported in literature

We are considering the problem of state observation in series-parallel resonant converters (LCC).... more We are considering the problem of state observation in series-parallel resonant converters (LCC). This is a crucial issue in (LCC) output voltage control as the control model is nonlinear and involves non-physical state variables, namely real and imaginary parts of complex electrical variables. An interconnected high gain observer is designed to get online estimates of these states. The observer is shown to be globally asymptotically stable. The global stability of the observer is analytically treated using the Lyapunov theory; finally we present numerical simulation to illustrate the performance of the suggested approach.

This article presents the design and control of the autonomous PV system with a storage battery and a single-phase inverter. The SEPIC converter is used to adapt the output voltage of the PV panel to the battery charging voltage, this converter is controlled by the intelligent MPPT control followed by PI controllers to extract the maximum power of the GPV and manage the charge and discharging loop the battery. Subsequently, a BOOST converter has been associated with the system to adapt the output voltage of the battery to the load. The modelling of the state space is done to determine the transfer function of the converters (SEPIC and BOOST). The single-phase inverter is used to supply alternative loads. The values of the PI correctors (Kp and Ki) are obtained using the method of Ziegler Nichols. Finally, we simulated and analysed the performan...

In Morocco, the residential real estate is the third largest consumer of energy after transport and industry sectors. Thus, the aim of this study is to help engineers improve the energy performance of residential buildings by coupling the TRNSYS software both with a sensitivity analysis method and with an optimization tool. In fact, sensitivity analysis allows reducing the number of input parameters of any studied model, by ranking their degree of impact on any chosen output, and then discard the parameters with the least influence on that output. To do so, we developed algorithms in Python programming language to combine the open source library SALib, available in Github platform, with the TRNSYS software. Then, the chosen input parameters can be optimized through coupling the generic optimization program Genopt with TRNSYS. This article will also explain h...
