Students reported that systems such as Blackboard, left them feeling emotionally disconnected from both topic and teacher. Their comments reflected a number of research studies that examined "emotions and online learning strategies for minimizing students' negative emotions of loneliness, isolation, and anxiety and finding ways to promote connectedness" (as cited in Regan, et al., 2011).

Assessing the Universality of the Zero Originality Lists of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT)-Figural: An Examination With African American College Students
Gifted Child Quarterly, 2021

The applicability of those ZOLs to diverse groups has not been examined. We examined the consistency of TTCT-Figural’s sample-based (SB) ZOLs and the published ZOLs based on a sample of predominantly African American college students ( n = 464 and n = 493 for Forms A and B, respectively). Then, we scored 193 forms using SB-ZOLs and published ZOLs. Compared with the old ZOLs, the updated ZOLs yielded more consistent results with the SB-ZOLs when a 3% cutoff is used for Activity 3. However, the new ZOLs made more improvement in Form A than Form B and in Activity 2 than Activities 1 and 3. Further studies are needed to determine if the inconsistencies stem from cultural differences or the method of updating the ZOLs. The results are discussed in terms of the implications for gifted identification.

Modeling prior to observations is crucial in order to predict the observational challenges and to prepare for the data interpretation. This paper presents the report of the TRAPPIST Habitable Atmosphere Intercomparison workshop (2020 September 14–16). A review of the climate models and parameterizations of the atmospheric processes on terrestrial exoplanets, model advancements, and limitations, as well as direction for future model development, was discussed. We hope that this report will be used as a roadmap for future numerical simulations of exoplanet atmospheres and maintaining strong connections to the astronomical community.

To assess this, we begin by implementing a novel methodology to estimate the probability of computerisation for 702 detailed occupations, using a Gaussian process classifier. Based on these estimates, we examine expected impacts of future computerisation on US labour market outcomes, with the primary objective of analysing the number of jobs at risk and the relationship between an occupation's probability of computerisation, wages and educational attainment. According to our estimates, about 47 percent of total US employment is at risk. We further provide evidence that wages and educational attainment exhibit a strong negative relationship with an occupation's probability of computerisation.

Three sets of hypotheses were tested with a 114 groups of adults. First, groups whose members had some (i.e., one CPS course) or advanced training (i.e., graduate-level study in creativity or creativity professionals) were significantly more effective at idea generation than groups without training. Furthermore, leaders with some and advanced training were perceived to be significantly more effective than those with no creativity training. With respect to creativeness of solutions, the advanced training groups outperformed all others. The second set of hypotheses focused on the effectiveness of idea generation instruction (i.e., instructions without brainstorming, brainstorming, and brainstorming with criticism). Analysis revealed no significant difference for idea generation instruction relative to idea production or creativeness of solutions. The final set of hypotheses examined the use of a simple process structure for groups without prior creativity training (i.e., distinct phases for idea generation and solution development). Analysis revealed that those meetings that followed a simple process structure out performed groups that did not follow a process for both idea generation and creativeness of solutions. Further results are presented and implications discussed.

Before delving headlong into a review of idea generation and idea evaluation, it is important first to define these terms, and then to locate these constructs within the network of related creativity concepts. Creativity studies are a young field, and within this field, the topic of organizational creativity is a recent area of interest. With the increased concern for innovation among corporations, it would be useful to engage in more field studies. Within the field of creativity, idea generation in general and the usefulness of idea generation methods has received much greater attention than idea evaluation. Idea evaluation research needs to catch up to the body of literature dedicated to idea generation; what training approaches work best, to what degree does training transfer to the workplace, what are the most effective approaches for organizations to vet and develop the most promising ideas, what idea evaluation tools are most useful to individuals and teams, and what dynamics impact successful idea evaluation in teams. These are just a few of the questions that might be useful to explore in future research.

The Opportunities and Challenges of Technology Driven Creative Collaborations

Deep and central to these transformations is the penetration of digital communication and computer technology into modern day life. Above all, this new and evolving technological landscape has opened exciting new possibilities to drive creative behavior, organizational creativity and innovation through computer-mediated interactions. Such opportunities are met with equal challenges that need to be addressed in order to harness the full potential of massively distributed creative collaborations. This chapter will elaborate on the underlying trends that give rise to these opportunities and challenges and to what extent these trends will govern creativity and innovation in areas of organizational life such as business, education, science and design in the next 10 to 30 years.

Application of Proportional Reduction Loss Formula to Distinguish Adaptive and Innovative Products and Services

Using Kirton's (1989) A–I theory, judges rated 29 products and services using a 5-point Likert scale. Percentage of agreements and Proportional Reduction Loss (PRL) coefficients (Rust & Cooil, 1994) were calculated to identify products and services that were either clearly adaptive or clearly innovative.

IBM associates comprised the majority of the group that was involved in the process. Insights regarding the experience working within this virtual environment are discussed at length as seen through the eyes of the authors (CPS facilitators) of this paper and through the eyes of the participants. Data was gathered through a short feedback form administered to all participants, and informal interviews were also held to explore ways to improve the CPS experience. Results were encouraging. In common, participants reported that their experiences were deeply engaging and conducive to creative collaboration. An argument is made for the early adoption and use of this type of virtual worlds for remote-synchronous creativity interactions. Finally, from a systems view of creativity, the authors identify opportunities for future research studies that examine the efficacy of creative collaboration within virtual worlds.
