The use of the Internet is expanding and the technological capabilities of electronic devices are... more The use of the Internet is expanding and the technological capabilities of electronic devices are evolving. Today, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions can be developed that were never even imaginable before. In this paper, a case study is presented on the joint use of Building Information Model (BIM), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. It is a part of an ongoing study that intends to overcome some problems about the management of complex facilities. In the study, a BIM has been converted and displayed in 2D on Google Maps, and information on various sensors have been represented on the web with geographic coordinates in real-time.

An iterative displacement method working based on generalisation zones is proposed as a part of c... more An iterative displacement method working based on generalisation zones is proposed as a part of contextual building generalisation in topographic map production at medium scales. Displacement is very complicated operation since a compromise ought to be found between several conflicting criteria. Displacement requirement mainly arises from the violation of minimum distances imposed by graphic limits after the enlargement of map objects for target scale. It is also important to maintain positional accuracy within scale limits and to propagate the changes to the related neighbouring objects by preserving spatial configurations as far as possible. In the proposed method, first it is decided where and when to initiate building displacement based on spatial analysis in the generalisation zones created for building clusters in the blocks. In order to operate these facilities and to meet the requirements of the occupants and also to manage energy, waste and to keep all facility services operational, several Facility Management (FM) solutions were developed. This paper starts by presenting a state of art review of research related to Indoor Facility Management Systems. Later, a textual analysis focused to identify the research trends in this field is presented in the paper. The result of the literature review and textual analysis indicates that current research in Indoor FM Systems is underestimating the role of Geoinformation, Geoinformation models and systems.

Indoor modeling and mapping has been an active area of research in last 20 years in order to tack... more Indoor modeling and mapping has been an active area of research in last 20 years in order to tackle the problems related to positioning and tracking of people and objects indoors, and provides many opportunities for several domains ranging from emergency response to logistics in micro urban spaces. The outputs of recent research in the field have been presented in several scientific publications and events primarily related to spatial information science and technology. This paper summarizes the outputs of last 10 years of research on indoor modeling and mapping within a proper classification which covers 7 areas, i.e. Information Acquisition by Sensors, Model Definition, Model Integration, Indoor Positioning and LBS, Routing & Navigation Methods, Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications, and Ethical Issues. Finally, the paper outlines the current and future research directions and concluding remarks.

An attempt to automated generalization of buildings and settlement areas in topographic maps

Generalization of topographic maps is a very challenging problem for map producers. Therefore, NM... more Generalization of topographic maps is a very challenging problem for map producers. Therefore, NMAs are intensively working on the matter in order to make it automated as much as possible for their production requirements. In this paper, we present a case study for automated generalization of buildings and settlement areas in Turkish topographic maps from 1:25K to 1:50K, which is implemented in Laser-Scan LAMPS2 GIS and map production software based on object-oriented database technology. It begins with the issues regarded in their generalization. Then, steps for generalization of surrounding roads of settlement areas are mentioned in a limited focus. After that comprehensive steps for generalization of buildings and settlement areas are given. At the beginning, settlement areas were stored as a whole without any direct interaction with roads. Their independent generalization created some problems and we did not have the possibility of analysing the areas surrounded by roads for the decisions in some building generalization operations. To solve these problems, we create settlement blocks using road segments after creating buffers on roads considering symbology and then partition existing settlement areas according to these blocks. After that voronoi diagrams are created and combined according to building clusters. It enabled us to analyse within the blocks for optimal generalization decisions. First results of this ongoing study are close to solution although some editing is required. It concludes with an evaluation of results, addressing future work.

construction projects' compliance with legal requirements and regulations. However, supporting the BIM/IFC standard, which
models the design and construction process of buildings, with legal models has the potential to facilitate compliance with legal
requirements and regulations, provide clarity in ownership and boundary management, oversee project approval and control,
and ensure that legal areas are secured in 3D. This study focuses on the design of an integrated legal model based on the land
administration domain model (LADM) standard, considering the functions of land administration in Türkiye, and explores the
possibilities of mapping this model to the IFC data format. The study aims to represent land administration functions in BIM/
IFC projects and integrate these processes with physical development. The findings from testing the proposed framework's applicability
on an existing BIM project reveal opportunities for the integrated management of legal processes that create rights, restrictions, and responsibilities (RRRs) in spatial entities with physical processes.
