Religious environmentalism is a post-materialist environmental philosophy that emerged from the West and has its roots in the eighteenth century European “Romantic Movement” (Tomalin 2004, p. 265-295). Religious environmentalism in Buddhism finds support in the belief that it is intrinsically environment friendly and by relating religious environmentalism with Buddhist environmentalism, we can strive towards sustainable development and human flourishing.
