  • Personalised medicine is often discussed. Implementing it in daily clinical practice is a different challenge altogether. In the PoTT (Personalisation of Thrombosis Treatment) project, we are working together with Coagulation Profile, FOCE Technology and Maastricht University to bridge that gap. Today, anticoagulant therapy is still largely based on population-based dosing strategies, while patients can respond very differently to the same treatment. The result is that some patients remain at risk of thrombosis, while others may face an increased risk of bleeding. Our goal with HemCare is ambitious but straightforward: provide healthcare professionals with a fast and practical point-of-care tool that helps assess a patient’s coagulation and anticoagulation balance, enabling more personalised treatment decisions. At 2M Engineering, we are proud to contribute our expertise in medical device development, hardware, software and industrialisation to help bring this technology from concept to clinical reality. Innovation in healthcare is not only about developing new technology. It is about making advanced diagnostics accessible where and when they are needed most. The PoTT project is co-financed by the European Union as part of the OPZuid programme, supporting innovation and collaboration in the Southern Netherlands. #PoTT #HemCare #Thrombosis #PointOfCare #MedicalDevices #PersonalisedMedicine #Diagnostics #HealthcareInnovation #2MEngineering #OPZuid #EuropeanUnion

  •   The PC200 - Making Thrombosis preventable, not inevitable. With the OPZuid-funded ‘Trombose uit den boze’ Project, we are developing the next-generation point-of-care platelet analyser which will bring rapid thrombotic biomarker testing closer to the patient. Over the last 12 months, the consortium partners have worked intensively translating the prototype into a concrete medical device design. We are proud to share that the design phase has now been completed and after the official safety testing is done, deployment of the first devices for field testing will take place over the coming months. The first three pre-production devices will be validated by our clinical partners in The Netherlands, Italy and the USA. Initial testing will focus on Early stroke and heart attack detection as well as Cancer-related biomarker detection. These field tests will support the transition of the PC200 into numerous high-impact clinical applications, ranging from acute cardiac care to oncology and personalised thrombosis management. This is a major step forward for the project — and an important milestone on the road from scientific concept to real-world clinical impact. • 🩸 Personalising thrombosis treatment – from lab to point-of-care At 2M Engineering, we believe that personalised medicine only becomes impactful when advanced diagnostics are translated into practical, scalable medical devices. In the PoTT (Personalisation of Thrombosis Treatment) project, we are proud to act as lead partner in the development of HemCare: a novel point-of-care diagnostic device that enables fast and reliable assessment of blood coagulation and anticoagulation balance at the individual patient level. Why this matters While Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) were originally prescribed in fixed doses, clinical reality shows large inter-individual variability. Today, nearly 20% of patients are estimated to be over- or under-dosed — increasing the risk of bleeding or thrombotic events. Yet, current laboratory methods to assess DOAC effectiveness are slow, costly and not accessible in primary care. What we’re building HemCare brings laboratory-grade thrombin generation testing to the point-of-care: - Fast, reliable and easy-to-use tabletop diagnostic device - Optical fluorescence-based sensing technology - Designed for hospitals, clinics and thrombosis services - Enables data-driven, personalised anticoagulation dosing From concept to clinical impact Within PoTT, 2M Engineering leads the full development trajectory: hardware, software, system integration and industrialisation – working closely with Coagulation Profile, FOCE Technology, and Maastricht University to translate scientific insight into a scalable medical product. This project is co-financed by the European Union and contributes to the health transition in Southern Netherlands, accelerating the move towards personalised healthcare. • Big milestone for HeartGuard 🚀 We’ve completed the project phase focused on developing the core technology behind our multi-sensor cardiac monitoring platform — integrating multiple physiological signals into a single, wearable system and building the software foundation to turn those signals into actionable insights. This marks the transition from building technology to validating real-world impact. The next phase is clinical validation, where we’ll work closely with medical partners to evaluate performance, usability, and clinical value in real-world care pathways. At the same time, we’re opening the door to new medical and clinical collaborations. We believe this technology has potential far beyond a single use case, and we’re excited to explore how it can be applied across different patient populations and clinical domains. If you’re a clinician, researcher, or healthcare innovator who sees opportunities to collaborate, feel free to reach out — always happy to explore what we could build together. #MedTech #DigitalHealth #RemoteMonitoring #CardiacCare #WearableTech #ClinicalInnovation #HealthTech #ConnectedCare

  • Water is no longer a given. Not during periods of drought. Not during extreme rainfall. And certainly not when we look at the state of our water infrastructure. With the project 'Water – the Valuable Resource', we have developed the technology that provides real-time insight into what is happening in both wastewater and stormwater sewer systems. The development phase is now completed — and we are moving into the phase where it really starts to matter: the first real-world pilots. We believe that data-driven monitoring will play a key role in: - preventing water-related incidents and damage, - reducing maintenance costs of critical infrastructure, - strengthening environmental compliance and enforcement, - and improving safety and liveability in our cities and communities. This project has been co-financed by the European Union. Are you working at a municipality, water authority or infrastructure management organisation and curious what this could mean in your context? We’d love to explore this together. #watertransition #smartcities #watermanagement #pilots #infrastructure #innovation #climateadaptation

  • Healthcare innovation only works if it actually works in daily practice. At 2M Engineering, we don’t start with sensors or algorithms — we start with the user: the patient at home and the therapist working at a distance. What does rehabilitation need to look and feel like to be usable, motivating, and clinically meaningful in real life? In this project with the Sint Maartenskliniek voor verwijzers Maartenskliniek, we are exploring how EMG sensing combined with IMU sensing — enabled through wearable sensor platforms — can support practical home rehabilitation, without barriers, complex setup steps, or technical friction for patients. Because in our view, healthcare technology should adapt to people, not the other way around. Great to collaborate with strong partners like Hankamp Rehab BV and Corpus VR translating real clinical needs into usable solutions — and to take concrete steps towards scalable home rehabilitation with the support of OPZuid.
