Last year during Pride I wrote here that it's still hard to be gay in Amsterdam. This weekend a woman was killed and many got injured at Pride Berlin... If these extremes are happening in Europe, you also understand that there are many "smaller" incidents that happen to people in LGBT groups daily. Last year I wrote on the UvA survey under “young adults” in Amsterdam. It asked whether two men/boys or two women/girls being in love is “normal.” “This is normal” answers dropped from 63% to 43% “This is wrong” answers doubled from 14% to 28% This year's results haven't been published yet and once they come out it will tell us where we stand, but the outlook isn't great. One thing is clear, we need to pay attention. Amsterdam, my city, where the first gay marriage took place, is now moving in the wrong direction. We need to do better. With GoDutch we made some promises last year and they are unchanged: 1. Zero tolerance for discrimination 2. Open culture 3. Diversifying our team 4. Supporting the community 5. Speaking up openly Our biggest challenge, we still have a hard time diversifying our team. We’re trying hard, but fintech isn’t an easy. If you have ideas how to improve our approach or if you're interested in joining, please let me know! Our Pride card never left and will never leave. Love who you want to love 💙
