Yesterday, GSK announced a $10.6bn acquisition of Nuvalent, Inc., a US-based clinical-stage biotech focused on precision oncology, particularly in lung cancer. I believe this deal reinforces three themes shaping the industry: • Precision oncology remains a major area of investment. • Large pharma continues to look externally for innovation. • Companies are willing to pay for assets that reduce development risk and accelerate time to market.  Despite ongoing challenges across parts of the biotech sector, transactions of this scale suggest confidence remains high in innovative science that can demonstrate meaningful patient benefit. It will be interesting to see whether this signals the start of a more active period for biotech M&A in the second half of 2026. What are your thoughts? A nice surprise popped up this week. I don't post much on LinkedIn, and I'm not great at asking people for reviews, so seeing this on our Google page genuinely made my day. Recruitment is all about people, and knowing that someone felt supported throughout their journey is exactly the kind of feedback that matters most. Recruitment can be a tough industry to get right. Most of the work happens behind the scenes, and often the only feedback you hear is when something hasn't gone to plan. Really grateful that they took the time to leave a review. It's a good reminder that the small things we do for candidates don't go unnoticed.

Candidates are more likely to apply when salary is included in the job advert // According to research by Indeed among more than 6,000 workers across six European countries, 61 to 82% of candidates are more likely to apply when salary information is included. In addition, 64 to 83% believe salary ranges should be standard in job adverts. Still, salary transparency across Europe remains inconsistent. In many countries, salary information is still largely missing from job adverts. The Netherlands is relatively ahead. Around 48% of job adverts already include salary information. From June 2026, the new EU rules on salary transparency will come into effect. These rules are designed to help tackle gender pay gaps and improve fairness in the recruitment process. Employers will be required to share salary information before the interview. However, salary does not necessarily have to be included in the job advert itself. That is exactly where employers can make a difference early on. Including salary in the job advert creates more clarity, reduces noise in the process and helps you connect faster with candidates who are genuinely a good fit.
