OpenAI's confidential S-1 filing and pursuit of a potential $1 trillion IPO valuation reflect its rapid revenue expansion to roughly $2 billion monthly alongside persistent operating losses exceeding $1 per dollar of revenue. Recent reports indicate the company may delay its debut until 2027 after initially targeting late 2026, introducing uncertainty around listing timing and post-IPO share price discovery relative to its latest private round near $850 billion. Traders assess implied probabilities by weighing sustained enterprise adoption and AI model leadership against profitability timelines, capital needs, and comparable tech listings, with key catalysts including any updated SEC disclosures or macroeconomic shifts in risk appetite for high-growth equities.
