If you think you need an inside contact to get into the The World Bank Group? Rudy Perecin Mareño knew no one on the team he joined. As Global Program Lead for Talent Discovery at the World Bank Group, Rudy has spent 20+ years opening doors into mission-driven institutions. In our latest podcast, he takes apart the myths that stop great people from ever applying — and shows what actually works. A few things that stuck with us: → Careers are rarely linear. What wins isn't a perfect path — it's a clear narrative connecting your experience to the mission. Many who thrive there didn't get in on their first try. → AI is a tool, not the author. Use it to read a Terms of Reference and spot your gaps, but write the CV yourself. Recruiters spot generic, AI-written applications instantly — and at the World Bank Group, humans still review. → Know where the jobs are. Most advertised roles sit at grades GF and GG, typically a master's plus roughly 5–15 years of experience. And hires come from everywhere — no single university dominates. → The map is shifting. By 2030 the Group aims to hire more in country offices than at HQ, so more opportunities will sit outside Washington DC. If a career in global development is on your mind, this one's worth a listen. 🎧 Listen now: https://lnkd.in/d-qEiRPF #WorldBankGroup #ImpactCareers #InternationalDevelopment #CareerAdvice #Impactpool

Is your AI candidate screening fair and transparent? AI is transforming recruitment, helping NGOs and international organizations screen candidates more efficiently. However, many AI hiring tools rely on opaque “black-box” models that can create risks around bias, transparency, and fairness. Localization used to be a line in the strategy deck. In 2026 it is becoming a hiring strategy. Tighter budgets and a sector-wide reset are pushing impact organizations to shift decision-making and delivery closer to the communities they serve (The New Humanitarian, Jan 2026). For talent leaders, three things follow: → The talent is increasingly in-region. Recruiting only through the old channels means missing strong local candidates and paying more for the rest. → Your localization story is now an employer-brand signal. Mission-driven people notice whether local staff hold real decision-making roles, or only junior ones. → As budgets tighten, employer brand does the work salary used to. Purpose, growth and trust become your edge. The organizations getting ahead of this are mapping hiring to where talent actually is, and making their commitment visible in who they hire and promote. How is your organization adapting its hiring to localization? Read the article: https://lnkd.in/e5N425MW #TalentStrategy #GlobalDevelopment #Localization #EmployerBrand #SocialImpact

Finally I have a way to explain to my Dad what I actually do at work! And for anyone else who may be interested in what a D&I Programme does in the world's largest physics laboratory, CERN, and has the stamina for a 40 minutes podcast 😉, there may be a few gems in here for you too. For instance: 🎈 How many balloons do you need to throw a succesful D&I party at CERN? 💞 What common challenge plagues both dating apps and culture change? 📝 How to get a hiring manager to pay attention to your cover letter? 🎸 And finally, when not to play an instrument during a podcast... Now, while I would have loved to arrive on Spotify wih an original piece of music I had composed and performed myself, I'll happily settle for a lovely discussion with Merlijn Angad Gaur at Impactpool on diversity & inclusion at CERN through the 25by'25 experience. Spotify (personally, very exciting) & Apple podcast links in the comments below. https://lnkd.in/ddMRUq2j

We’re proud to continue to support the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in strengthening connections between Swedish professionals and the international development sector. On 2 June, we will bring together representatives from 16 international organizations, UN agencies, and Development Banks alongside ministry stakeholders for a focused 3-hour virtual career fair and networking event. The initiative creates direct engagement opportunities for Swedish talent to better understand international career pathways, connect with hiring organizations, and increase visibility within the multilateral ecosystem. We’re excited to help governments and international institutions build stronger pipelines between national talent and global impact careers.
