🏫 Transforming Schools, Empowering Communities 🌱 School rehabilitation is about improving infrastructure and about creating safe, inclusive learning environments that reflect the priorities and aspirations of the people who use them every day. Following a comprehensive consultation process, we have launched the first round of participatory planning workshops in four schools across Aleppo and Lattakia Governorates. Bringing together students, teachers, parents, school leadership, and local education authorities, these workshops help to: ✅Validate rehabilitation priorities identified during the consultation phase. 📝Discuss and refine potential design options. 🤝Identify school-led initiatives and community contributions that can complement the rehabilitation works. 🏗️The rehabilitation works will be planned and supervised by a local architect from Aleppo, with technical oversight from GIZ architects and engineers. This combines local expertise with robust quality assurance throughout implementation. 📚GIZ's integrated approach goes beyond infrastructure by combining school rehabilitation with teacher training and educational support, strengthening both learning environments and the quality of education. 🔧Once rehabilitation works are completed, a second round of workshops will support schools in developing maintenance plans and advancing school-led initiatives, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the investments. By placing participation at the heart of the rehabilitation process, GIZ is fostering local ownership, strengthening social cohesion, and helping create safer, more inclusive, and sustainable learning environments.
