A closer look at each plan
* Retention applies to exceptions, traces, spans, logs, and session replay. Metrics are kept longer at reduced granularity (1-minute resolution for 30 days, 1-hour rollups for 1 year), and continuous profiling data is retained for 30 days on every plan.
Built to enterprise standards.
Independent third-party audits are underway. SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 reports will be available on completion; reach out for current status under NDA.

Cloud & pricing FAQ
Why is Traceway so cost-effective?
Pricing comes down to two simple meters: a fixed monthly tier for exceptions, and data (logs, traces, spans, metrics, replay) at a flat $0.25/GB after a generous included allowance. There are no per-host or per-seat fees layered on top, and self-hosted Traceway has zero licensing cost.
Architecturally, Traceway uses ClickHouse columnar storage that compresses 1 million daily events into ~2-3 GB per month, keeping the per-GB rate low even at high volume. Everything is in one tool: endpoint performance analytics, exception tracking with automatic grouping and ranking, session replay, distributed tracing, metrics, logs, and AI observability, with a single bill instead of a separate meter per product.
Is Traceway really free to self-host?
Yes. Traceway is 100% open source with no feature gating. Every feature available on Traceway Cloud works identically when self-hosted. Deploy with docker compose up -d and you're running.
Will my bill ever increase unexpectedly?
No. Your plan price is fixed, and data is billed at a flat, published per-GB rate with a generous allowance included on every tier. If you approach your data allowance, we notify you in advance so you can decide whether to upgrade or keep going. There are no per-host or per-seat surprises, and we never apply a new rate without telling you first.
What support do Cloud customers get?
All Cloud customers on a paid plan can open GitHub issues that are triaged with highest priority by our engineering team. You talk directly to the people who build Traceway, with no help desk routing. Enterprise+ customers also receive a shared Slack channel with direct access to the team. Self-hosted users are welcome to open GitHub issues and participate in community discussions. We actively monitor and respond.
How does data billing work?
Each plan includes an allowance for data ingested, covering your logs, traces, spans, metrics, and session replay (for example, 150 GB on Premium). If you stay within it, you only pay the fixed plan price. Beyond the allowance, ingested data is billed at a flat, published per-GB rate ($0.25/GB, dropping to $0.20/GB on Enterprise) with no per-host or per-seat add-ons. We meter the volume you send us, not your compressed storage, so the rate is predictable, and we warn you before you exceed your allowance.
How does pricing work at scale?
Data is where observability bills usually grow, so that is where Traceway stays lean: a flat $0.25/GB, dropping to $0.20/GB on Enterprise, with no per-host or per-seat fees on top. Your exception plan stays a fixed monthly price. Enterprise+ adds the best volume rate plus a dedicated SRE and a shared Slack channel.
What do you charge for, and what is free?
Two things. First, exceptions, billed as a fixed monthly tier (10k free on Starter, up to 200M on Enterprise). Second, data, meaning your logs, distributed trace spans, custom metrics, and session replay, billed by the gigabyte ingested after a generous per-plan allowance. HTTP requests and background task runs are not metered. For example, on Premium you get 1M exceptions and 150 GB of ingested data included for $24.99/mo, then $0.25 for each additional GB.
Can I migrate from Cloud to Self-Hosted later?
Yes. Since the underlying software is the same, we can work with you to export your data and migrate to a self-hosted instance at any time. You are never locked into our cloud platform.
Is the open-source version limited?
No. The code is 100% open source and fully featured. We do not gate features behind the Cloud version. Cloud exists solely for convenience and for users who prefer a managed service over self-hosting.
Why use Traceway Cloud?
Cloud is for teams that don't want to self-host. We run the exact same open-source code but manage the infrastructure, updates, and backups for you. Focus on shipping features without maintaining an observability stack.
