As our first andwis. Health & Safety Week comes to a close, it’s clear that the conversations and focus it has created will continue long after the week ends. It’s easy for small “naughty habits” to slip into everyday working life, but this week has helped reignite awareness across the whole team and reminded us all that keeping our people safe remains our core focus. Today’s topic around cuts and abrasions sparked some great discussions throughout the office about how we can further prevent incidents and reduce risks both on-site and in the workplace. Our Operations Director Richard Webb was back out and about again with those all-important andwis cups, checking in with Service Engineer Ben, before heading across Bedford to visit Engineer Mark. Before the visit, Mark identified a near miss and potential on-site risk, which prompted Richard to attend and provide additional support. It’s been fantastic to see how this week has really encouraged the team to think proactively, speak openly, and support one another when it comes to safety. We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations, keeping health & safety at the forefront of our working practices, and building on this momentum during future H&S weeks. Day Four of Health & Safety Week focused on Asbestos Awareness A subject with a huge amount of information, significant risks, and one we take very seriously here at Ace Fire and Security Our engineers complete annual asbestos awareness training to ensure their knowledge stays current and they remain informed on the risks and what to look out for whilst on site. The sales team also kicked off their meeting today with a short asbestos awareness session and a reminder of what to look for when carrying out site visits and surveys delivered by Business Development Director Dan Bradding Our MD Stewart Auger, also hit the streets of Luton with Service Engineer Mac, continuing our mental health theme by taking time to check in over a coffee and have an open conversation. Our Installations Manager Matt Ridden has also been out and about catching up with the team and catching our apprentice Donjay in action. Back in the office the health and safety team Jodie M. and Richard Webb had a catch-up call with the division SHEQ team to discuss all things health and safety and continue sharing best practice across the business. We have also been lucky enough to grab a shot of Divisional Operations Director Darren Gibbons and MD Stewart Auger modelling our latest andwis travel mugs. Day 3 of Health & Safety Week at Ace Fire and Security and today’s focus has been all about Working at Height. Our Customer Service Director, Melanie Wharton, has been out on the streets of Bedford meeting with our long-term subcontractors and having those all-important safety discussions face to face. Meanwhile, our Operations Director, Richard Webb has been back out with the engineers capturing photos from the field and continuing those valuable mental health check-ins with the team. Yes those travel mugs are back again. Back in the office, Senior Service Engineer, George Middleton has been carrying out thorough ladder and step inspections to ensure all equipment remains safe, compliant, and ready for use. Our Service Engineer Andrew is now ready for action. It’s been another busy and productive day here at Ace as we continue putting safety, wellbeing, and teamwork at the centre of everything we do. Funny Working at Height Fact: The fear of ladders is actually called climacophobia. Probably not the best career match for an engineer working at height! Day Two of Health & Safety Week here at Ace Fire and Security and today we’ve been talking all things manual handling. From conversations with our stores teams to our Operations Director Richard Webb demonstrating best practice lifting techniques, it’s been another great day of learning across the business. We even covered the correct way to carry ladders safely. Unfortunately, we missed most of our photo opportunities today… but our trusty andwis. cups managed to make another appearance. To keep everyone engaged, we also set a fun quiz around “moving landmarks” across the business.
