What actually happens to your old laptops and IT equipment once they're no longer needed? For many organisations, unwanted devices end up sitting in cupboards because they're unsure what to do next. Concerns around data security, compliance and sustainability often mean old technology is left gathering dust. In our latest blog, we explain what IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) is, why it matters, and how it can help protect your business while creating a positive social and environmental impact. 71% of children aged 9–13 report being exposed to harmful content or experiences online. That's a statistic we can't afford to ignore. Children are growing up in a digital world where positive online experiences can help them learn, connect and build confidence, but they can also encounter harmful content, misinformation, cyberbullying and online risks. Protecting children online isn't just about technology. It's about creating opportunities for open, honest conversations that help them recognise risks and know where to turn if something doesn't feel right. Sometimes, all it takes is one question to start that conversation. If you're a parent, carer or educator looking for practical support, our Safe & Smart hub offers free resources including conversation starters, online safety guidance and advice for helping children and young people navigate the digital world with confidence. Explore the resources and start the conversation today: https://lnkd.in/eDMy8ZGz #OnlineSafety #DigitalSafety #ChildSafety #Safeguarding #Education #Parents #DigitalWellbeing #EveryChildOnline #SafeAndSmart

Most organisations have old laptops, desktops and other tech tucked away in storage. While they might no longer be useful to your business, they could make a real difference to someone else. At Every Child Online, we collect surplus technology, securely erase all data, refurbish what we can and pass devices on to children and young people who need them most. Anything beyond repair is responsibly recycled, helping to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact. Donating your surplus tech doesn't just clear space. It helps extend the life of valuable devices, reduces unnecessary waste and gives more young people access to the technology they need to learn, connect and thrive. If your organisation has devices you're no longer using, we'd love to help you put them back to good use. 33 laptops. 90 volunteer hours. One very hands-on way to Do Good. 💚 Trainliners recently joined our Every Child Online volunteer day, helping give retired technology a second journey 💻 Here’s the impact we made together: ✅ Contributed 90 volunteer hours ✅ Dismantled 33 laptops for recycling ✅ Created 73 upcycled products ✅ Generated an estimated £775+ for digital inclusion projects ✅ Helped avoid approximately 1.2 tonnes of CO₂e emissions The funds raised will support Every Child Online’s work helping children and young people access technology, build digital skills and learn how to stay safe online. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, and to Every Child Online for helping us turn unused tech into something with real impact.

UPDATE: Our charity van has been recovered. We're pleased to share that our Every Child Online van has now been recovered. We'd like to say a huge thank you to Essex Police for their quick response and support throughout today's incident. Their professionalism has been greatly appreciated, and we're incredibly grateful for everything they have done. Our vehicle's tracker played an important role in helping to locate the van. At the time of the theft, the van wasn't carrying any donated technology and contained only a small number of our tools. We'd also like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and sent us messages of support. Seeing our community come together so quickly really meant a lot to our team. Our van plays an important role in what we do every day, helping us collect donated technology from businesses and deliver refurbished devices to schools and families. We're relieved to have it back and ready to continue supporting those who need it most. As enquiries are ongoing, we'll continue to work with Essex Police and share any updates if appropriate. Thank you again to everyone who helped today. We couldn't ask for a better community. 🧡
UPDATE: Our van has been found - Thank you Essex Police . 🚨 Our Every Child Online van has been stolen. This isn't just a vehicle to us. It's how we collect donated technology from businesses, deliver refurbished devices to schools and families, and help tackle digital exclusion across our communities. Every journey this van makes helps give unwanted technology a second life and puts it into the hands of children and young people who need it most. Thankfully, the van was empty at the time and only contained a small number of our tools. 📍 Our vehicle's tracker last located the van in Meadow Lane, Wickford, on Sunday evening. If you're local to the area, please keep an eye out. If you've seen this van or have any information that could help us recover it, please contact Essex Police quoting the crime reference number below. Even if you can't help directly, sharing this post could help it reach someone who can. Thank you for your support. 🧡 Crime reference number: 42/110297/26 #essex #radioessex #southendecho #charity
