What a brilliant day at Annandale Distillery, celebrating a historic milestone for industrial heat: the official launch of our thermal heat battery system. It was great to mark the moment with our project partners, industry colleagues and supporters, and to show the technology live on site and in action. For the launch, our heat batteries were charged using electricity bought at a negative wholesale price of -£56/MWh - a clear example of how flexible thermal energy storage can turn low-cost renewable electricity into useful industrial heat. The heat battery supports Annandale Distillery's ambition to produce low-carbon whisky, while demonstrating how thermal energy storage can provide cleaner, more flexible heat for energy-intensive industries in Scotland and around the world. A huge thank you to our project partners Cochran and Annandale Distillery, to the UK Government through the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and to our investors for their continued support. Thank you also to Flexitricity for helping us realise the value of flexibility on the day.
