At JR Roofing, we don't just work to high standards of health, safety and environmental responsibility, we actively promote them across the roofing industry. We're proud to have received the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) Health, Safety & Environment Gold Award 2025, recognising our commitment to encouraging safer working practices, raising environmental awareness and helping drive higher standards throughout the profession. Whether it's investing in ongoing training, sharing best practice, supporting apprentices or taking an active role within the roofing industry, we believe every roofing contractor has a responsibility to help improve the industry for customers, employees and future generations. Receiving this award reflects more than how we operate as a business, it recognises our commitment to leading by example and encouraging others to do the same. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming a local high school student to JR Roofing for a week of work experience. From day one, he showed a fantastic attitude, was enthusiastic to learn, well-mannered, and willing to get involved with every task we gave him. He represented himself and his school brilliantly, and it was a pleasure having him as part of the team for the week. We're passionate about supporting young people who are interested in the construction industry, and we hope the experience has given him a valuable insight into how our business operates. We wish you every success in the future, and our door is always open.

With falls being the most common reason behind major injuries within the roofing sector, it is important that we take extra steps to ensure our roofers return home safely. This is exactly why we pledged our support towards NFRC’s Don’t Fall For Fragile Campaign. Through conducting risk assessments, providing our roofers with Working at Heights training, giving them correct access equipment and teaching safe working practices at work, we never cut corners when it comes to the safety of our roofers. We want to encourage other roofing contractors to do the same, join the campaign and pledge their support. Working together, we can lower the number of injuries from falls. Because no job is worth risking a life.

This month, we're celebrating 10 years of JR Roofing! 🎉 Looking back, it's incredible to see how far we've come. JR Roofing started with Josh and a single labourer, working hard to build a reputation for quality workmanship and excellent customer service. Fast forward 10 years, and we've grown into a thriving business with a dedicated team of roofers, apprentices, supervisors, and office staff, all working together to deliver the high standards our customers have come to expect. Over the last decade, we've achieved more than we ever imagined: -Multiple industry and business awards for workmanship, customer service, health and safety, and workforce development. -Over 250 five-star customer reviews. -Supported and trained the next generation of roofers through our apprenticeships. -Featured on Fix Radio. -Recognised in local newspapers and national magazines. -Completed hundreds of roofing projects across Lancashire for homeowners and businesses. -Earned and maintained respected industry accreditations NFRC and Which?, demonstrating our commitment to quality and professionalism. We all celebrated today with this amazing roof cake made by our office apprentices, Alice and Lin! With amazing detail including A.Proctor Group Ltd. pink roof membrane! Here's to the next 10 years of quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and helping homeowners and businesses protect what matters most.

Last week, our team attended IATP Non-Licensed Category B Asbestos Training to ensure their knowledge remains current and up to date. Now, our roofers are able to safely handle, remove, or knowingly disturb asbestos-containing materials in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Within roofing, this allows us to remove asbestos bitumen roof felt shingles and any asbestos cement products, such as: roof sheets, tiles, ridges, soffits, fascia boards, gutters, and flue pipes. Although all of our roofers already hold asbestos training certifications, we believe regular refresher training is essential. Construction and roofing professionals can occasionally encounter asbestos-containing materials during repair, maintenance, and refurbishment works, so it's vital that our team knows how to identify potential risks and work safely. Training isn't just about ticking boxes, it's about maintaining high standards, reducing risk, and ensuring every project is completed safely and professionally.

Josh attended the Skills Debate round table, organized by the Lancashire Business View in association with Blackpool and The Fylde College, speaking about training within the roofing industry. Along with 7 other company leaders, all from a range of different industries, Josh discussed the difficulties behind getting a hold of skills and training needed for employees, “The fundamentals aren’t being taught [in colleges]”. As well as his plans for the future in terms of offering work experience for those interested in the roofing industry, “Historically, it was quite difficult for us to work experience because of the safety risks involved”. “How easy is it for you to get a hold of the skills and the training that you need?” Find out more in the Lancashire Business View Magazine Issue 128. https://lnkd.in/et2z87DD
