Metri Bio is a Boston-based biotech and femtech company pioneering first-in-class treatments for endometriosis and other uterine diseases. When co-founder Ashley Abel, Ph.D. noticed that rodent testing wouldn’t apply to conditions affected by the menstrual cycle, she realized it would be advantageous to create a human model that could better understand conditions like endo and accelerate the development and discovery of novel therapeutics. Our latest article explores their drive to improve outcomes for the millions of people who struggle with the devastating impact of uterine diseases like endometriosis that, on top of chronic agony, cause fertility issues and immune, cardiovascular, and metabolic complications. In life sciences, people of color are underrepresented. This trend begins at entry level and gets worse as seniority rises. According to several recent findings: 🟣 Non-Asian people of color make up just 14% of the biopharma workforce 🟣 Despite representing 13.4% of the U.S population, Black professionals make up just 6% of the life sciences workforce 🟣 More than three quarters (76%) of life sciences executives are white We're collecting insights from our community and kindly ask you to contribute to this conversation by answering a few questions about your personal experiences. Take our survey here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eaUZEyKR Your answers will contribute to our next report launching later this year, which will explore the industry's underrepresentation of ethnic minorities and how this negatively impacts developments in science and health outcomes. #survey #lifesciences #diversity #equity #inclusion
