The Quantum Datacenter Alliance (QDA) Forum 2026 announces its first set of keynote speakers! 🎤✨ ➤Dame Wendy Hall, is one of the trailblazers behind the WWW and among the first computer scientists to undertake serious research in multimedia and hypermedia, being at the forefront ever since. The influence of her work has been significant in many areas including digital libraries, the development of the Internet, and the emerging research discipline of Web Science. Her current research includes exploring interfaces between the social, and physical sciences through the development of Web Science and the study of online systems through a sociotechnical lens. She is a Director and Trustee of the Web Science Trust. ➤Dr. Anna Tatarczak is a Senior Principal Scientist and Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff in the Office of the CTO at Coherent Corp. in Santa Clara, CA. She is a globally recognised expert and frequent speaker in high-speed optical communications, AI-scale optical innovations, and silicon photonics. Before her industry career, she earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics and was an academic researcher, focusing on data analytics and applied mathematics. ➤Dr. Karmela Padavic-Callaghan is a journalist, educator and science writer reporting on physics, materials science and quantum technology. Karmela earned a PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics and atomic, molecular and optical physics and their research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Physical Review Letters and New Journal of Physics. Their recently published book ‘Entangled States’ is a personal journey on how the world of quantum physics and humanity illuminate one another. Everyone in UK tech was spooked this week because DSIT (Dept for Science, Innovation, and Technology) and DBT (Dept for Business & Trade) are merging - with Rt. Hon. Jonathan Reynolds MP and Kanishka Narayan MP at the head. For the Quantum industry, the reason to worry was that DSIT has been doing a phenomenal job over the past decade or more - deploying long-term, ambitious quantum strategy and national programmes that have been transformational for companies like Nu Quantum (and every single other quantum company in the UK). Inside DSIT live UKRI and the Office for Quantum which are instrumental in delivering these strategies. UK Government had recently made a landmark £2BN long-term commitment to quantum, which had finally launched just two months ago. ...Looks like things are ok? I appreciated that by 9.15am on the second day of appointment, a.k.a yesterday morning, Jonathan and Kanishka convened a meeting with tech leaders across the ecosystem, to reassure us directly that science & tech remain a top priority in the effort towards growth for every postcode, re-industrialisation and -of course- sovereignty. Present was also Hannah Boardman who has been a champion for quantum. They assured us that this merger means we get 'the speed of tech and the scale of business' together - and that momentum won't be lost, only coherence gained. Also very timely, Tom Newby just gave us an update at UKQuantum, reassuring us that the Office for Quantum, UKRI, and NPL will all remain, and that all of the commitments to the Quantum Strategy remain, with those budgets all still in place. All in all, it is undeniable that the world is at a turning point in how government, technology, and business choose to come together to serve society. Quantum will work for our society and 'across postcodes'; so aligns strongly with the new governments' agenda. We must keep building on this momentum and I'm optimistic that the commitments made today put us on the right track.
