Earlier this month, Scotty's Youth Council joined the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 One Year to Go event, marking one year until the Games come to Birmingham. Bringing together the Armed Forces community, local people and partners, the day was packed with sport demonstrations, activities and plenty of excitement for what's to come. It was fantastic to see our Youth Council take part in the celebrations and be embraced once again by the military community. You would be accountable for providing emotional support, counselling and therapeutic interventions to individuals and families coping with grief and loss. The role involves working compassionately and ethically with anyone affected by military connected bereavement, helping them process their emotions and find ways to adjust to life after a loss. You would work collaboratively with the SUPPORT team and the wider Families team to ensure that all work undertaken by Scotty’s is delivered in a supportive and sensitive manner and that the whole Scotty community receive exemplary care. #ScottysWorld #MilitaryBereavement #NowHiring

Earlier this month, Scotty’s welcomed Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and Scotty’s Global Ambassador, to our annual Summer Festival for bereaved military families. The Duke spent time meeting members and tried his hand at both pygmy goat yoga and our exciting inflatable obstacle course. The festival provided an opportunity for fun and laughter as Prince Harry and our members tried something new together, forming connections and lasting memories. Scotty Member Brandon, 10, said “Speaking to Prince Harry was my favourite part of the day and I also did the obstacle course with a friend I met at another Scotty’s event.” #Scottys #SummerFestival #MilitaryBereavement

An update from our founder, Nikki Scott... As you may have noticed, we've changed our look. That's because there's been some exciting things going on behind the scenes at Scotty's. As many of you know, Nikki founded Scotty's Little Soldiers in 2010 following the death of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott. Since then, Nikki and the team have worked tirelessly in support of bereaved military children and young people. As always, our British Armed Forces children and young people remain at the heart of the charity, supported through the "Scotty's Little Soldiers" service, but later in 2026 adults will be able to access help too. Now known as "Scotty's", the charity has begun its transition to supporting anyone affected by military-connected bereavement, from any branch of the British Armed Forces, whether serving or a veteran, and regardless of their relationship to the person who died or the cause of death. Here is an exclusive look at the Scotty's 2026 Summer Festival - a day for fun, laughter and smiles aplenty, designed to help reduce isolation and strengthen social connections. With 180 members of the bereaved military community in attendance, children and young people took part in pygmy goat yoga, tackled our inflatable obstacle course, sung their hearts out at rockeoke, and ended the day with a spectacular colour run. One parent said, "The whole event was fantastic, brilliant organisation and my kids haven’t stopped talking about it since. After all the heartbreak and distress, seeing both my children with the biggest beaming smile just made my day (and also brought tears of joy). I've loved seeing the impact of the work the team Scotty's - the military bereavement charity do in my time so far as Head of Service for children, young people and the wider community affected by military connected bereavement. Last weekend, Scotty’s was thrilled to welcome Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and Scotty’s Global Ambassador, to our annual Summer Festival for bereaved military families. Prince Harry spent time meeting members and joined in with pygmy goat yoga and the inflatable obstacle course. He also took part in a special Q&A session hosted by Scotty’s founder, Nikki Scott, giving members the opportunity to put their own questions to The Duke. Prince Harry’s attendance meant a great deal to our members, creating memories they will treasure forever. Prince Harry has supported Scotty’s for many years and became the charity’s Global Ambassador in 2023. His relationship with the charity dates back to 2017, when he met founder Nikki Scott and bereaved military children at Party at the Palace. Since then, he has continued to support members of the charity through personal letters, video messages and attending events. #Scottys #SummerFestival #MilitaryBereavement
