Some people don’t just do a job — they pour their heart into it. 💚 That is our Network and Relationships Manager, Kim Gill, who has been named a finalist in the Not for Profit category at the 2026 Enterprise Vision Awards! Kim’s commitment to supporting local people stretches back many years. During the pandemic, she offered to volunteer at the Food Bank, rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in. Just days later, she was handed the keys and found herself helping to lead an organisation facing unprecedented demand. Since then, Kim has helped grow our network from around 40 organisations to more than 100. She has developed partnerships that connect people not only with food, but with practical advice and services that can help address the causes of hardship. Her compassion is genuine, her determination is infectious and her belief in collaboration has helped The BIG FOOD Project reach thousands of people across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Our BIG FOOD Truck can help you access good-quality food at a much lower cost.   We rescue surplus food and share it through our affordable food club, giving members seasonal fruit and vegetables, cupboard staples and other food items for a small weekly membership fee. Membership is: 🥕 £5 single 🥕 £8 family 🥕 £16 family plus In return, you will receive food worth at least four times your membership fee — and you only pay on the weeks you attend. We are incredibly proud that Kim Gill, Network and Relationships Manager at The BIG FOOD Project, has been selected as a finalist in the Not for Profit category at the 2026 Enterprise Vision Awards. Kim is a powerful advocate for partnership working and for ensuring that people experiencing hardship have access not only to food, but also to the wider support needed to create lasting change. A huge thank you to The Florence Foundation for their generous grant to support essential maintenance and repair costs for our vans. Our vans really are the workhorses of The BIG FOOD Project. They are out on the road five days a week, collecting good surplus food from over 80 suppliers and delivering it to the schools, community groups, food banks and local organisations who help get it to people who need it most. When one of our vans is off the road, the impact is immediate. Food cannot be collected, deliveries are disrupted, and good food risks going to waste instead of reaching local people. As our vans get older, keeping them safe, reliable and roadworthy becomes increasingly costly — but absolutely essential. This funding from the Florence Foundation will make a real difference in helping us keep our vans moving, our food collections running, and our community supported.
