FEATURE UPDATE: We are rolling out ECHO, our GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) function to users of our AI platform, Ariadne. Online behaviour is shifting, and manipulation tactics change in response. LLM poisoning has become a new vector in reputation attacks and influence operations. We built ECHO as a response. Inline with Valent's detect, predict, respond approach, ECHO lets users see not only how they are seen by LLMs, but also what feeds into the depiction of them, and how they can address inaccuracies. Want to know what LLMs are saying about you, get in touch either here or via our website.

Want a job as an AI Engineer at Valent? You just need to beat our CTO. We are officially hiring for an AI Engineer role. Instead of wading through 5 million CVs hoping to dodge hidden prompt injections, we are doing this the fun way. I am open-sourcing our technical take-home task. Rohan Khandekar has built the baseline for this challenge. If you can complete the task and beat his evaluation score, I guarantee you a first-round interview (you must also be based in the UK). Its a bot detection challenge. We provide the data. Most of it is ordinary, organic noise. Hidden inside are groups of accounts working together (the bums), amplifying the same messages on cue while pretending to look ordinary. This is similar to the real world problems our ninja engineers (Chinmay P. and Fifolu Akinyemi) face everyday. Your job is to find those coordinated groups without mistaking an ordinary viral crowd for a real campaign. You will be evaluated on: ✅ Accuracy against our held-out campaigns (finding the real ones, not flagging the crowds) ✅ Your reasoning: how you defined "coordinated" and calibrated it without labels ✅ How you build with AI, and where you caught it getting things wrong ✅ Clean, reproducible code Deadline is Monday 6 July 9am. The link to the full brief and data is in the comments below. 👇 Think you can knock Rohan off his perch? Prove it or tag someone below who would take the challenge. Best of luck! #AIEngineer #Hiring #TechCareers #MachineLearning #Python #Startups #BuildingInPublic

Our disinformation intelligence and response software, Ariadne, is helping to meet one of the greatest challenges the world faces. As the mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer OBC said; "Cities are on the frontlines of the climate crisis, but they are also at the forefront of delivering solutions." Today, C40 Cities launches City Climate Facts at London Climate Action Week. Ariadne helps C40 Cities see what's real and what isn't when it comes to online conversation about air quality in cities across the world. The City Climate Facts initiative will help mayors meet their residents' demands for clear and trustworthy information about the risks they face and the benefits climate action can deliver. Over the past 5 years we have tracked a surge in violent protests in the UK. Our findings suggests the country should be ready for more. What is happening in Belfast, Southampton, Glasgow and elsewhere is not organic and spontaneous It is the latest in a strong of events that have been built on narratives that feed off frustration and events framed to stoke anger. This mechanism is becoming ever more dangerously efficient as the timescale between events and violence is becoming shorter and the targeting has moved from immigrants and minorities to state institutions. Get ahead of the curve with our AI platform, Ariadne.

We live tested predictive capabilities soon to be rolled out to users of our AI platform, Ariadne. Last week, Ariadne assessed upcoming headlines related to the ruling Labour party's leadership competition, and turnout for an upcoming hard-right rally. 1. UK online manipulation networks have started testing attack narratives against Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, ahead of a by-election which will determine whether he can mount a challenge to UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer. Early signals showed intent to link Burnham to a pre-existing narratives around grooming gangs, with evidence of authentic traction. 2. Patterns of authentic engagement on posts published by similar networks aligned with UK hard-right leader Tommy Robinson suggested far less active interest than for a similar event eight months ago. Police estimates put turnout at 60,000 vs 150,000 for the event last year. As seen in other contexts, subdued engagement signalled reduce intent to attend.

12 seconds of perfection. It’s finally working!! Remember my descent into #vibecoding hell trying to answer a simple question of sibling rivalry? I was hallucinating that I could just prompt Gemini to give me #padel stats from a video clip. Rohan Khandekar laughed and told me gently that I had a computer vision problem, not an LLM problem. He was right (as always). After weeks of banging my head against a brick wall, debugging Python back-ends, and custom training a YOLO 11 model on 18,000 padel ball images (I never want to label a pixel ever again) —I have a breakthrough. Watch the attached video. 👇 It is only 12 seconds long, but for one single glorious point, the analyzer works perfectly. It is automatically categorizing: ✅ The ball trajectory while killing rogue balls ✅ Player positions and identity ✅ The specific shots hit and their success This bastard clip took aaaaaaages to get right. The next step? Debugging the rest of the match. Scale is the new hell and I may just lose the will to live. #BuildingInPublic #ComputerVision #AIPowered #FoundersJourney #StartupCulture #PadelAnalyzer #founderlife

When you’re taking the coin, a holiday is sacrosanct. When you’re generating the coin, well... that’s a different story. I struggle with this, keeping the never-off founder mentality while still trying to enjoy my family and a real life. Over Easter, I took a break and asked myself a simple question: How often have I actually achieved something meaningful while working on holiday? As Don King once said "The answer is slim to none and slim's left town". This isn’t some transformation from hard-core capitalist (ex-investment banker) into a benevolent founder. It’s a practical observation that you can’t get productive work done surrounded by sun, sea, and sand. At most, spend that needed downtime reflecting on the business, rather than working on it. Otherwise, you are missing out on the superpower that is a clear head. So, chill. Enjoy your real life, and come back ready to rip shit up. On my break I saw this wonderful work by Gary Stranger at the STRAAT in Amsterdam. The message is simple, and it sums up #founderlife: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” #WorkLifeBalance #StartupCulture #FounderMentalHealth #AuthenticLeadership

Proud to have been piloting a project with CDAC Network to bring AI monitoring to some of the most complex real world scenarios - violent conflict in Sudan
Today we’re publishing 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞: 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐧 – 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 We’re publishing on 15 April deliberately. Three years since the war began, the information environment in Sudan remains as contested and dangerous as ever – and its impact on humanitarian operations is still under-recognised. This is an impact report from our pilot project with technology partner Valent, working with local Emergency Response Rooms, national NGOs, mutual aid groups and international actors. Together, we’ve been testing a new model where AI detection, humanitarian interpretation and system response work together. How it works: 1️⃣ Valent’s AI model detects coordinated inauthentic networks and narrative manipulation patterns. 2️⃣ CDAC translates those signals into protection-focused analysis. 3️⃣ Sudanese and international responders use that analysis to counter dangerous narratives before they cause harm. The report reflects honestly on what we learned along the way. Using AI in humanitarian settings has huge potential: our tool helped inform convoy planning, displacement preparedness and rumour response. But doing it well is more time- and resource-intensive than you might think. ➡️ Swipe through for 7 lessons from the pilot. 📃 Read the full report in Arabic & English at https://lnkd.in/eM-2eNKH Three years in, Sudan needs sustained attention and better collaboration between the international system and local responders. We hope this is a contribution to both. #Sudan #SudanWar #InformationIntegrity #CIB #InformationOperations #AI #AI4Good Mukhtar Elsheikh Stijn Aelbers Shruti Viswanathan
