Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisLast Saturday, 193 colleagues from across Ageas gathered in a very sunny Bruges for this year’s Ageas Triathlon. For 75 of them, it wasn’t just another race, it was their very first time taking on an Olympic distance 🏊♂️🚴♀️🏃♂️ Six months ago, some had never swum a lap, ridden a road bike, or run more than a few minutes. Looking back at where they started, what stands out is not just the finish line but everything that came before it. It’s a reminder that growth rarely feels spectacular in the moment. It builds quietly through consistency, encouragement, and the willingness to keep going, even when it feels tough. At Ageas, we believe wellbeing is not limited to the workplace. It’s about creating space for people to challenge themselves, to discover what they’re capable of, and to do so together. Initiatives like the Ageas Challenge are powerful because they make that journey visible and shared. 👏 A sincere congratulations to everyone who took part. Not just for crossing the finish line, but for everything it took to get there. And a warm thank you to Golazo Energy for being a trusted partner throughout the journey. 🏅

Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisToday was our #CIO Teamday. With benedicte, Kris, Filip, Bernadette, Michel, Pieter, Eddy and Joeri, we presented our CIO Business Plan. Afterwards Marnix Arickx and Arnaud LEBRETON from our partner BNP Paribas Asset Management presented their strategy and how they work with insurers. In the afternoon, we had a guided tour in the stylish head office of BNP Paribas Fortis, we visited the nearby MIM, Musical Instrument Museum and ended with the ususal group picture (📷credits: friendly anonymous tourist). Thanks to BNP Paribas Asset Management for hosting and feeding us and to Tiziano for the perfect organization of the day. Money doesn’t perform, people do! #TopTeam

Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisGreat moment last month, when I returned to my alma mater, Ghent University, exactly in the same building where I had my first job. Thirty years ago, I used to be a research and teaching assistant in corporate finance, working for Profs. Sophie Manigart and Hubert Ooghe. This time, I had the pleasure to give a guest lecture in the course #Insurance #management of professor Bart Chiau about the investment portfolio of insurance companies. We discussed the role of insurance companies as largest #assetowners in Europe, the way how #liabilities drive our investments, the importance of cash-flow matching, the impact of the #SolvencyII capital regime, the difference between the strategic and the tactical #allocation, and how insurers invest in the #realeconomy and support the #energytransition. Thanks a lot to Bart for the invitation and to all the students for the their presence and their questions. AG Insurance and Ageas, supporter of the universities !

Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisAlways a pleasure to bring together the European Ageas Group investment colleagues during our annual Investment Forum, this time in Brussels. We started with a thought-provoking key note speech on economy and markets by Vincent Juvyns, investment strategist at ING Belgium. Afterwards Olivier Colsoul, CEFA, FRM explained the economic assumptions underlying our MYB. We then discussed the investment activity in the different European entities and exchanged best practices, after which Emmanuel Van Grimbergen focused on Ageas Group' Asian investment portfolio. After lunch, we had a panel debate on defense and sustainability , between external experts Tom Van den Berghe (from Febelfin) and Hervé Guez and Louise Schreiber (from Mirova) and AG Insurance's specialist Jan Bronselaer. (The debate was so interesting I even forgot to take a picture.) And we ended in beauty and wisdom, with our own Serge Fautré's vision on the real estate market and AG REAL ESTATE ‘s portfolio. Thanks to Julie Noel and Nathalie Mergen for the excelllent organization. We are already looking forward to our 2026 meeting in Lisbon. Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisDecember 2024 I decided to put my name into the hat to enter the Ageas triathlon. An Olympic distance too - 1km swim, 45km cycle finishing with a 10km run. Never did I think I would be accepted. Cue me panicking saying to myself ‘how can I get out of this’ but fast forward 6 months after lots of training I’ve completed my first ever triathlon in a time of 3hrs 42 mins in 32 degree heat in Bruge. Huge thank you to Golazo Energy and Ageas Group for their time and commitment and to my coach Lennert without him I’m not sure where I would be! The whole experience has been incredible and one that I will never forget. #Ageaschallenge #dare #deliver #bruge2025 #yesyoucan #ididit

Sean Penman liked thisSean Penman liked thisIt was once again a pleasure to meet my investment colleagues from Grupo Ageas Portugal, Ageas UK, Ageas Re and AG Insurance on the annual Ageas Group #investment #forum, this time in London. We discussed amongst others the economic scenarios, the geopolitical risks, the status of the energy transition, the evolution in ESG regulation and we finetuned our investment strategies and sustainability goals. There was also some #teambuilding with a gastronomic walk along the Thames, as you can see on the pic below.
