It does so by studying a context of extreme educational and economic inequality. The magnitude of this study offers an unprecedented window to observe interactions between different social classes in college. Drawing on two different fieldworks, this study is based on 19 focal groups in 8 cities and 12 universities, and in an in-depth study of one elite university. Results show that low SES students actively mobilize different types of personal resources to integrate to the college environment, but they face strong objective and symbolic barriers. Results show also that regular students, on occasion, act as cultural guides for low SES students, helping them in the process of college adaption, and that colleges’ characteristics and diversity influence beneficiaries’ social integration and well-being.

sciences education: Historical Memory Education (HME).
Despite the large amount of educational experiences
following the end of violent conflicts and totalitarian regimes
during the twentieth century, historical memory has not been
recognized as a field in educational research. From a review
of research and experiences worldwide, the authors identify
a new field in education research that cannot be reduced to
peace education, bullying prevention, or history education,
but that takes elements from all these fields, as well as from
local pedagogical experiences, to face the challenge of
healing the wounds of longstanding violent conflicts. This
article organizes prior research in a comprehensive framework
that describes the levels, pedagogical principles, and spaces
of HME.

The deontological and formalist positions rooted in the moral philosophy shaped the first conceptualizations in the study of morals in psychology. Thereafter, and parallel to the debate in ethics, Psychology and Kohlberg himself became more receptive to those positions which proposed to contemplate social significations and judgments in a more contextual and flexible manner. Communitarianism and some non-cognitive reflections had some influence on the psychological study of morals; a field that also reconsidered new ages for the study of moral development, as well as it incorporated the life-cycle theories and the notions of wisdom.

In order to do this, the article compared two different interventions aimed at teaching statistics. One intervention used data analysis tools and focused on examples and long exercises that required students to interpret data. The other intervention used simulations and focused on formal aspects of probability related to statistical inference. Then, both perspectives were contrasted in their effectiveness to teach ANOVA.

Social games attract a huge playership that represents a different demographic than traditional video games. For this reason, it is worth asking whether or not they can be used for educational purposes. This paper examines the comments made on a single article within a wiki devoted to the characteristics of the Facebook-based social game FarmVille. In order to identify whether or not there is any evidence of learning or knowledge-construction around the game, this study explores and analyzes the conversations around the wiki article. Such evidence is reviewed with the goal of identifying the educational potential of social gaming in general, and FarmVille in particular.

Particularly, this article reviews the effects of a real time strategy game (RTS) that requires players to control the behavior of a virus and interact with cell structures in a way that resembles the actual behavior of biological agents. The evaluation of the video game presented here aims at showing that video games have representational advantages that facilitate the construction of dynamic mental models. Ultimately, the article shows that when video games characteristics come in contact with expert knowledge during game design, the game becomes an excellent medium for supporting the learning of disciplinary content related to dynamic processes. In particular, results
