
Alexander Capron
Alex Capron researches and writes on ethical, legal and social issues in healthcare, public health, and biomedical research. He directed the first presidential commission on bioethics (Presidents Carter and Reagan) and served as a member of the second (President Clinton), was the first director of Ethics, Trade, Human Rights and Health Law at the World Health Organization, and has taught at Yale, Penn, Georgetown, and USC over the past five decades. Professor Capron is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Law Institute, and an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the American College of Legal Medicine, and has served as the President of the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics, and of the International Association of Bioethics, and Board Chair of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research.
