Thomas F. Heston, MD, MSc, FAAFP, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians with a clinical practice spanning rural family medicine, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences at Washington State University. He completed medical school at Saint Louis University and earned his MSc in Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology from the University of Nicosia. His research examines the application and ethical implications of large language models in medical education and clinical practice, including how artificial intelligence transforms clinical decision-making, reshapes the physician-patient relationship, and challenges traditional frameworks for medical ethics and professional responsibility.
