    Over the July 4th weekend, as a record heat wave pushed PJM toward emergency conditions, the AGent Energy Command Platform remotely switched customer sites off the grid and onto their own backup power in real time — dropping demand to relieve the grid and help keep the lights on for the 67 million Americans PJM serves. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 AGent Energy 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼. There are roughly 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗚𝗪 of backup generators sitting idle across America — in hospitals, factories, data centers, farms, universities, water plants, and retailers. Most generators run a few hours a year and otherwise sit as a cost on the balance sheet. AGent Energy turns those idle assets into a coordinated, grid-responsive fleet: our Sentinel hardware and the AGent Command Platform continuously monitor generator health, automate compliance, and — during grid emergencies — switch customer sites off the grid and onto their own backup power.   • Last week, as a record heat wave pushed PJM toward emergency conditions, the grid held - for now. That's worth pausing on — and giving credit where it's due. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and Office of Electricity | U.S. Department of Energy have done remarkable work getting us here. Since this past winter, this administration has used Section 202(c) at a scale and consistency we've never seen — a sustained, coordinated national effort to keep power flowing through emergency after emergency and keep the lights on for tens of millions of Americans during peak stress. Just as important, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has recognized backup generators for what they are: a real, available reliability resource that can protect the grid in an emergency, not just idle iron sitting behind the meter. Add the #RatepayerProtectionPledge, and you have a federal team moving with real urgency and real creativity on grid reliability. We've been proud to collaborate with them, and the results speak for themselves. They're missing one, crucial bridge. Right now, 202(c) orders are issued reactively — in the middle of an emergency, directing backup generators online order by order, seeing what sticks. That's an extraordinary stopgap, and it has worked. But you can't plan a grid on stopgaps. The fix is proactive enrollment. We need large loads — data centers most of all — signed up in the emergency and demand response programs utilities and RTOs already run, before the emergency hits. That's the only way operators can actually plan for adequacy. It also pulls those megawatts into the capacity auctions, which MATERIALLY lowers costs for every ratepayer. Data centers already signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge, including the commitment to flexibility and behind-the-meter generation. The last step is turning that commitment into enrollment. CESER, DOE, and OE built the foundation — this is the bridge that connects it all. The tools work. The team is in place. Let's plan ahead instead of reacting in real time.

  • This week in Washington, AGent Energy met with senior leadership across the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) — including the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and Office of Electricity | U.S. Department of Energy — to discuss a question that is now front and center: How does the U.S. support explosive AI load growth without driving up costs for consumers or compromising grid reliability? Last week, hyperscalers signed onto the Ratepayer Protection Pledge — including a commitment to flexibility and backup generation.
