Terrific afternoon hosting a delegation from the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) at the Applied Intuition office in Sunnyvale. JARI and Japan are leaders in autonomy policy and it's always fun to share perspectives on evolving regulatory frameworks and technical approaches to safety.

What separates a normal truck from a Software-Defined Vehicle (#SDV)? 🚛 It’s not only the software. It’s the entire architecture. Today’s trucks rely on a large number of electronic control units, each dedicated to specific functions — which makes updating their software complex. SDVs are fundamentally different. Engineering has changed. So has our interview process. We retooled our entire company to use AI coding agents. Everyone here dedicates weekly time to optimizing agentic workflows.
