I’m honored to share that I’ve been selected to participate in the Association of Cancer Executives 2026–2027 Fellowship Program. My professional journey has taken me through executive leadership, consulting, and management in the outpatient wound care space before transitioning into cancer care and hospital operations. Just a few short years ago, oncology was a new area of healthcare for me, and I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors and colleagues. A special thank you to Stephen Miller, MHSA, FACHE for encouraging me to apply and the support throughout the application process. Your mentorship has had a meaningful impact not only for me personally, but more importantly, for the patients of USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. The year ahead will be an exciting one as I complete this fellowship while also finishing a second masters - Master of Studies in Law at USC Gould School of Law (Healthcare Compliance). A recent installation at Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute recognized W. Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, MMHC, as the Jeri B. Block and Robert H. Schottenstein Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research. During the ceremony, Dr. Rathmell recalled that when she began her career, patients with metastatic kidney cancer were sent home on hospice. The decades since have brought discoveries, new treatment approaches, and outcomes that were once beyond reach. That progress carries the work of many people and institutions, while Dr. Rathmell’s own contributions as a kidney oncologist, researcher, advocate, and leader have helped shape the field. The recognition centered on one extraordinary career.
