The best CPA firms I work with didn't build an R&D tax credit practice in-house. They partnered for it. It makes sense when you think about it: R&D tax credits require specialized technical and tax expertise that's genuinely hard to build and maintain internally, especially firms that only see a handful of qualifying clients a year. Partnering means your clients get access to that expertise, and you get to focus on what your firm already does best. The relationships that work well share complementary expertise instead of overlapping services, aligned incentives so both firms win when the client wins, and a simple handoff that doesn't add to your team's workload. I'm joining my colleagues Ashley Crawford and Paul Davenport next Wednesday, July 29 at 1PM ET to talk through how the Boast Partner Program actually works for CPA and accounting firms, what it asks of your time (not much), and how to know if it's a fit. If you've ever wondered whether this makes sense for your practice, this is a good place to start. Link to register here: https://lnkd.in/gSDEHbVG #Partnerships #CPA #AccountingFirms #RDTaxCredit

Every CPA I talk to underestimates how much changed for R&D credits this year. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act restored immediate expensing of domestic R&D under Section 174A. Form 6765's Section G is now mandatory for a lot of filers, and it's genuinely more complex than what most practices are used to. Layer on 37+ states with their own stackable credits, and the opportunity for clients has gotten bigger, not smaller. The part that doesn't get talked about enough is that claiming these credits well isn't just a tax question. It takes technical understanding of what actually qualifies as R&D alongside the financial and tax expertise to build a defensible claim. That combination is where a lot of value gets left on the table, for clients and for the firms serving them. I'm joining Mfon Ubaha and Paul Davenport next Wednesday, July 29 at 1PM ET to walk through exactly what's changed and what it means for CPAs and accounting firms right now. Would love to see some of my accounting network there. Link to register here: https://lnkd.in/gCpcyDDE #RDTaxCredit #Section174A #Form6765 #CPA

"Women's health has been historically under-researched and underfunded for decades." 📊 Alyssa Mack-Lee (Blissminds) on the research gap that's affecting millions of women right now. Take ADHD research, which was done almost exclusively on men in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. For decades, when women showed signs of ADHD, doctors wrote it off as hormonal or puberty. Same story with pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause, which are experiences that affect more than half the population, yet women have historically been told their symptoms are something to "push through." That's why Alyssa is building Blissminds Health, a line of cognitive wellness products specifically designed for women going through major life transitions. In this episode of 🎙️What the Tech🎙️, we sit down with Alyssa (who we first connected with via our pals at League of Innovators Accelerator during Web Summit Vancouver) to discuss why women's cognitive health has been overlooked and how she's building a movement to change that. 🎧 Full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gpU3xNbS #WomensHealth #HealthTech #ADHD #CognitiveWellness #Innovation

A new state-by-state innovation study just dropped that tells a more interesting story than a simple leaderboard. California leads, which isn't altogether surprising. But when you scroll past the top spot and the pattern gets more interesting: Massachusetts got there through R&D spending, while Delaware and Wyoming climbed the list on venture capital concentration. Meanwhile Idaho cracked the top 10 with almost no VC activity at all, powered instead by more than $600M in R&D spending tied to Idaho National Laboratory and manufacturers like Micron and HP. All this proves that you don't need a Silicon Valley zip code to build an innovation economy; you just need sustained investment in research and development. Every dollar businesses in these states pour into patents, prototypes, and product development is a dollar that likely qualifies for a federal R&D tax credit, and (in most of these states) a state credit stacked on top. We broke down all 10 states: Which ones offer a state credit, which ones don't, and what's changed in 2026 that makes getting the claim right more important than ever (including a new mandatory IRS reporting section). Full breakdown in the comments. Where does your state rank, and are you claiming what you're entitled to? #RDTaxCredit #Innovation #CFO #NonDilutiveFunding #TaxStrategy

R&D tax credits might be the most valuable service you're not offering your clients yet. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act restored immediate expensing of domestic R&D under Section 174A. Form 6765's new Section G adds real complexity for many filers this tax year. And 37+ states now offer their own stackable R&D credits on top of the federal program. For CPAs, accountants, and fractional CFOs, that adds up to a lot of non-dilutive funding clients could be missing, and a real opportunity to bring more value to those relationships without adding headcount or building a new practice area from scratch. Join us Wednesday, July 29 at 1PM ET for "How CPAs and Accounting Firms Unlock More Value for Clients Through R&D Tax Credit Partnerships," a live conversation with: 🎯 Ashley Crawford, Director of Customer Delivery at Boast, on what's changed in the federal and state R&D tax credit landscape  🤝 Mfon Ubaha, Head of Partnerships at Boast, on how the Boast Partner Program lets firms offer R&D tax credits to clients without building the capability in-house  🎙️ Paul Davenport, Head of Content at Boast, moderating Whether you're actively exploring this for clients or just curious what a specialist partnership actually requires of your team, you'll walk away with a clear picture of the opportunity and how to evaluate it. Canada's aerospace industry just quietly became one of the most R&D-intensive sectors in the country. The 2026 State of Canada's Aerospace Industry Report landed this month, showing that the sector contributed $33.1 billion in GDP, created 218,700 jobs, and invested more than $1.8 billion in R&D last year alone. That puts aerospace at 4.5 times the manufacturing average for R&D intensity, and 2.2 times more STEM-intensive. Aerospace R&D is expensive in a way most tech R&D isn't, as its rife with test rigs, tooling, specialized manufacturing equipment and flight validation infrastructure. For years, that capital spend sat outside SR&ED eligibility, which meant a huge chunk of what aerospace companies actually spend on innovation didn't qualify for Canada's largest non-dilutive R&D funding program. That changed with the 2026 SR&ED Enhancements, as capital expenditures on property acquired after December 15, 2024 are eligible again, the refundable credit ceiling for eligible CCPCs is now up to $2.1 million annually, and the expenditure limit doubled to $6 million. If you're an aerospace or defence tech company doing qualifying technical work, and you haven't looked at your SR&ED position since these changes took effect, it's worth a second look. We broke down what the report means for R&D funding, and what's actually changed for capital-intensive sectors like aerospace. Full breakdown in the comments. #SRED #AerospaceInnovation #RDTaxCredits #CanadianAerospace #NonDilutiveFunding
