California (and America), here we come!
It was an honor to join some of the biggest thinkers in housing at Terner Labs' Aligned Actions for Housing Solutions in NYC last week to talk about what BuildTrust has been building as a member of their current cohort. Between the ideas in the room and the actions on Capitol Hill, it feels like ADU financing and manufactured/offsite housing construction are poised for transformational breakthroughs in scale. It also marked the first time that, flying home from a conference, my plane has been pointed westward. As we prepare to launch BuildTrust as the national platform for ADU, infill, and offsite finance, I am going to be on the ground in California, which has led the way in removing barriers to these innovative forms of housing. I will also continue to serve as a board member of the Casita Coalition, which helped create this middle housing moment. If you're in the Bay Area, let's get coffee (I'm told there are certain spots). We still have a lot of unpacking to do, but this feels like the right place at the right time to change the trajectory of housing affordability.
