The Case For Toys is expanding to Red Willow County. Thanks to the Beckenhauer Construction BEYOND Grant from Beckenhauer Construction, Inc., we are ready to begin serving children in the McCook area by equipping judges with Cases designed to create moments of comfort and connection in the courtroom. We are also grateful for our partnership with PRAIRIE PLAINS CASA, whose help getting the Cases delivered continues to make expansion across western Nebraska possible. This is what community partnership looks like. Local organizations investing in kids, trusted partners helping move the work forward, and judges creating more welcoming courtrooms for the children they serve. About us
The Case for Toys is a Nebraska-based nonprofit working to make juvenile courts more child-centered, compassionate, and relational. We equip judges with curated toy cases filled with comforting, trauma-informed items that they can give directly to children during court proceedings. Each toy is a small gesture that carries a powerful message: you are seen, you are safe, and you are valued. These moments of comfort and connection help turn an intimidating courtroom into a space of care and dignity. Our mission is simple: to create moments of kindness that remind children they matter and remind adults why compassion belongs in every decision made on their behalf. In the best interest of the kids, we partner with judges, law firms, churches, and community organizations to bring humanity and warmth into the courtroom experience. Together, we are helping Nebraska lead the way in building a juvenile justice system that centers on the child’s well-being, emotional safety, and sense of belonging. Every case is an opportunity to make a difference. Every toy is a chance to help a child feel a little less afraid and a little more seen.

It’s time to refill all four Cases in Lancaster County Juvenile Court. Since October 2025, The Case For Toys has been supporting all four juvenile court judges in Lancaster County by providing thoughtfully curated Cases designed to create moments of comfort and connection with children attending court. Lancaster County has one of the highest concentrations of children in foster care in Nebraska, and we continue to hear encouraging feedback about the impact these small moments can have in helping judges build trust and engagement with the children on their docket. As we prepare for our next round of refills, our goal is not only to maintain this support but to continue exploring new ways to make courtrooms feel safer and more welcoming for kids. The Case For Toys continues to grow across Nebraska. Current partnerships include: ✅ Lancaster County (4 courtrooms) ✅ Buffalo County (2 courtrooms) ✅ Furnas County ✅ Hayes County ✅ Hitchcock County ✅ Platte County ✅ Seward County That means we are now supporting 9 judges across 11 courtrooms in 7 Nebraska counties. We also recently received grant funding to expand into 2 additional counties, and we’ve begun conversations with a judge serving 4 more counties. Every expansion represents more children entering courtrooms where intentional moments of comfort and connection are available to them.
