We unite everyday people to unlock their financial progress.

About us

Chime was created because we believe everyone can unlock financial progress, and we want to develop solutions and services to empower people to succeed. The premise upon which we started Chime is simple: basic banking services should be helpful, transparent, and easy. Our easy-to-use tools and intuitive platforms give members the ability to have more control over their money and to take action toward achieving their financial ambitions. By designing a member-centric banking app with easy-to-understand financial tools, we’re creating a more competitive market with options for everyday Americans. We offer access to accounts with no overdraft fees, provide members the chance to receive their pay up to 2 days early* with direct deposit, help them build credit history, and build financial literacy to hit their goals—among many other things. Since 2012, we’ve grown our team to more than 1300 Chimers across 3 offices. But more than that, we’ve expanded the products and services we offer to our members based on member feedback. And in doing so, we’ve disrupted the banking industry and changed the conversation for everyday people about money on a national level. Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., Members FDIC. *Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.

This is what financial education looks like when it starts young. 💚 In May, we introduced the Chime’s Compound Combine™ in Jersey City to share hands-on money lessons with kids and families, with help from a few pro athletes. Our next stop: Charlotte, July 25. ⚽ Same mission, new city. See you there! Thank you Invest America for your continued partnership.

🚨 JUST IN: Chime just launched investing for the 40% of Americans who don't own any stock. Chime Invest was announced yesterday, rolling out to members over the coming weeks. It supports both - Self-directed: US stocks and ETFs, commission-free - Managed: an expert-built portfolio matched to your goals and risk profile, run by Atomic Invest (an SEC-registered adviser) Managed portfolios cost 0.25% a year as standard, 0.10% on the Plus tier, and 0% for Prime members. Zero, at the top tier. Crucially users have no account minimums. and can start with $1. I love this lowering the psychological barrier to investing approach. Chime has 10.2 million active members, and most use it as their primary account. The average member opens the app 5 times a day and transacts more than 50 times a month. This is a pure cross sell motion, and another way to monetize that user base for Chime I love this. "Fintech" catches doubt from a lot of angles but Chime is a company you can point at and go: these guys are trying to do the right thing, and they've made a business out of it. They just had their first GAAP-profitable quarter as a public company earlier this year. And they did all of this by avoiding the slop machine and the crypto hype, and building a trusted brand that grows people's finances. Most brokerages launch for people who already invest. Chime is aiming at the roughly 40% of American adults who currently own none (Gallup, April 2026). A bit of good news in your week IMO.

Chime, the largest neobank in the US, will now make investing available to its more than 10 million active members. What sets Chime apart from competitors like Robinhood or SoFi? Many of its original clients signed up for a primary banking relationship with the firm, which is a highly coveted customer base because it’s where many choose to deposit their paychecks. " “Bundling it all in one place, at the lowest cost” positions the firm well to play a role in customers’ financial lives, Chime CEO Chris Britt said in an interview.

In the first two weeks of our rollout with First Student — the country’s largest student transportation provider with 65,000+ employees — we’re seeing a strong start: ✅ 34% of enrolled employees are already building savings with Chime ✅ 72% of employees using our fee-free earned wage access are building savings too This impact is exactly why we built Chime Enterprise: to help employers bring financial wellness to employees where they already are — at work — at no cost to employers or employees. With several employers already live across the country — and two more major employers just signed — we are building momentum with our employer partnerships. 🚀 Today we're also sharing a leadership update: Jason Lee has decided to leave Chime to pursue a new entrepreneurial venture outside of fintech. Anyone who knows Jason won't be surprised that he's once again building something from the ground up. Since joining Chime through the acquisition of Salt Labs, Jason has helped establish Chime Enterprise and a talented team that will carry on our momentum. We're grateful for Jason's leadership and vision, and wish him every success in his next chapter. Mark Troughton, Chime’s President, will directly oversee Chime Enterprise with the existing seasoned leadership team with deep industry expertise. With a strong team and an expanding roster of leading employer partners, we're excited for what's ahead and look forward to continuing to help employers support the financial well-being of their employees. 💚

Today, we’re launching Chime Invest™, bringing investing to the Chime app where members already get paid, spend, and save. On average, members engage with the Chime app up to 5x a day and complete 50 transactions a month. Now, investing lives in the same place. About 40% of Americans report not owning any stock, missing out on one of the most reliable ways to build wealth over time. We heard the real barriers directly from our members: not enough time to learn about the market, more pressing uses for their money, and the cost of professional advice. With Chime Invest™, members can buy stocks and ETFs commission-free, or let an expert-managed portfolio do the work for them, all with no account balance minimums. Chime was built on the idea that financial services should be helpful, easy, and free, and investing is the natural next step to Unlocking Financial Progress.® 💚 Access rolls out to members over the coming weeks.

Financial progress isn’t just part of Chime’s mission, it’s embedded into our products. But how do we hold ourselves accountable to that? We hosted our first Financial Progress Forum at our San Francisco headquarters, bringing our product and executive teams together with leading financial health researchers like Jennifer Tescher, Beth Brockland, and Carly Perera from Financial Health Network, Mariel Beasley from SaverLife, Melissa Koide from FinRegLab, and Charvi Gandotra from Commonwealth. At a fireside chat with Chime Lead Economist Danny Friel and VP Product, Lending Ivo Parashkevov, financial health experts shared evidence-based frameworks for driving members' meaningful financial progress. The breakout sessions had our product teams digging into how to measure real impact across spending, saving, borrowing, planning, and protecting. Bringing together financial health experts and absorbing their insights only helps us ensure that the products we build actually deliver on our mission. 🤝💚
