We’ve received a Certificate of Occupancy for our client Sue Labella, marking the first ground-up homeowner fire rebuild in Pacific Palisades since the January 2025 fire. Sue has called Pacific Palisades home for 48 years. After the fire, she wanted a way to rebuild without added stress or uncertainty. The custom home is organized around a central courtyard and includes 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, an attached garage, and a 2 bedroom guest home. We handled the project from start to finish, submitting permits in May, completing on-site assembly in December, and obtaining the Certificate of Occupancy on January 7, 2026, one year after the fire. We’re grateful for the trust Sue and her family placed in us. This is what the future of homebuilding looks like: integrated, repeatable, and built to move faster when people need it most. We’re now wrapping up a homeowner rebuild in Altadena and breaking ground for more homeowners across Southern California, including fire rebuilds in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena.

This is the team building homes at the Cover factory. Many hadn’t built homes before. With the right tooling and environment, they now build at a level of precision that would make any seasoned craftsperson proud.

Downsizing doesn’t have to mean compromising. Al and Nenette moved from a 6-bedroom house into a Cover ADU we permitted and built in 3.5 months. Lisa Boone of the LA Times covered the story this morning.

Rebuilding after fire shouldn’t take years. Our first Pacific Palisades fire rebuild, an all-steel home designed and built entirely by Cover, is on track to be the first completed. Proof that homes can be rebuilt faster, smarter, and stronger.

Simplicity isn’t easy. An island, a tall wall. Hundreds of unseen decisions so it feels effortlessly simple.
