✨ Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Dr. Jason Beugnet, DDS When Dr. Jason Beugnet, DDS received a DTA Foundation scholarship, he was deciding whether to pursue an optional residency that would help him better serve patients with complex needs. He chose to take that next step. After graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry, Dr. Beugnet completed a 12-month General Practice Residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, where he received advanced training in special needs, pediatric, and public health dentistry. During his residency, he saw firsthand the growing need for public health dentists. "People would drive up to six hours just to see us." Now, Dr. Beugnet is returning home to Wisconsin, where he'll split his time between private practice and public health dentistry. His goal is simple: to be the friendly neighborhood dentist who treats anyone who walks through the door while continuing to care for patients with special needs and underserved communities. Reflecting on the scholarship, Dr. Beugnet shared: "It did make a difference. When I learned I had won a scholarship, I was planning my future and residency. It felt like someone was saying, 'Do what you need to do, and we'll help you get there.'" Stories like Dr. Beugnet's remind us that scholarships do more than ease financial burdens. They empower future dental professionals to pursue advanced training, expand access to care, and make a lasting impact in their communities. Congratulations, Dr. Beugnet!
