About us
El Paso County lies in east central Colorado and encompasses more than 2,158 square miles. While the western portion of El Paso County is extremely mountainous, the eastern part is prairie land. The altitude ranges from about 5,095 feet (1569 m) on the southern border at Black Squirrel Creek to 14,110 feet (4301 m) on the summit of Pikes Peak, near the western boundary. The county seat is located in Colorado Springs. El Paso County Government continually strives to provide high-quality services at a reasonable cost. This has allowed us to maintain the lowest tax rate of any Front Range County in the State of Colorado while providing desired services for our residents. We have been able to accomplish these goals by planning and thinking strategically.

Today, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to protect essential County services after the State began withholding unrelated grant funding tied to disputed audit costs involving the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. The action allows the County to address the immediate funding issue while preserving its legal rights, pursuing reimbursement, and strengthening financial oversight. Workforce services for employers and job seekers in El Paso and Teller counties will continue without interruption. Read the full release:https://lnkd.in/eHXuc9f4

Upcoming Road Closure Alert: Beacon Lite Road Beginning Monday, July 20, at 8 a.m., Beacon Lite Road will be fully closed to through traffic in both directions between Palmer Divide Road and Wakonda Way while crews complete waterline and storm sewer installation. The closure is anticipated to remain continuously in place for approximately three to four months, extending into the fall, as crews move through four consecutive phases of utility work. Phase 1 is expected to last approximately three weeks. During this phase, the active hard-closure area will be located approximately south of Double Drive to north of Moore’s Driveway. Local access will remain available from the nearest open end of Beacon Lite Road, but vehicles will not be able to travel through the active work area. The posted detour will follow: Palmer Divide Road, Indi Drive, Aries Drive, and Wakonda Way The project team will provide an update at the end of each phase with the anticipated timing, work limits, and access information for the next phase. Drivers should follow posted signs and allow additional travel time. As with any construction project, timelines may shift due to weather or other unforeseen factors. We appreciate the community’s patience as crews work safely and efficiently to complete this improvement. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dNXnfuax
